With our list, discover the best Soulslike games to play in 2025 that give even the original ones a run for their money.

Hidetaka Miyazaki’s Souls games have defined an entire genre of games. Developers have tried, to varying degrees of success, to replicate what made Miyazaki’s games so brilliant. There have been a lot of brilliant Soulslikes recently, and in this list, we will cover the 5 best Soulslikes to play in 2025 and what makes them great games.
5. The Surge

The Surge, in a nutshell, is sci-fi Souls. It takes place in a world where humanity has used up all of its resources. The protagonist is named Warren, who wears an exoskeleton to combat against the various enemies in The Surge. The combat is almost exactly like Dark Souls, except players can attack multiple parts of the enemy. The game incentivizes attacking weak spots of an enemy to deal damage.
It is a solid game and can be good fun for fans of the Souls series.
4. Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is Team Ninja’s take on FromSoftware’s Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Although the game offers the same build variety and stats that are present in the Souls series, the combat system is very similar to Sekiro. The game features a posture meter and parry system that works exactly like Sekiro. In addition, there are unblockable attacks that must be exclusively dealt with via parrying, similar to Sekiro’s Mikiri Counters.
While the story in Wo Long is almost non existent, it is still a brilliant Soulslike solely because of its gameplay.
3. Lords of The Fallen

Lords of The Fallen is a reboot of the original one that released nearly a decade ago. The game is much better than its previous iteration, as they address the biggest flaw, which was the clunkiness of the gameplay. Although, the game is not perfect by any means, as it struggles with level design and boss fights in some cases, it is still a good game.
The game’s biggest strength is the atmosphere, and how it is the best-looking game on this list.
2. Nioh 2

Nioh 2 is the sequel to Team Ninja’s first take on FromSoftware’s Dark Souls series. The game improves upon the original Nioh in every way possible, with a refined combat system, a fantastic character creator, and incredible boss fights. In addition, the setting of the game is gritty and focuses a lot on environmental storytelling, similar to Dark Souls. While the narrative itself cannot hold a candle to Miyazaki’s games, the combat in Nioh is easily superior to the Dark Souls games in every way.
It is a must-play for every avid Souls fan, as some of the fights can give even the most hardcore veterans a difficult time.
1. Lies of P

Lies of P is the closest Soulslike games have ever gotten to fully replicating a Hidetaka Miyazaki game. This game is undeniably a masterpiece, as it gets almost everything right. The game features linear levels that loop in on themselves via shortcuts, enemy placements are fair but challenging, has solid build variety, lore is incredible and discovered via clues, and the bosses are fair and challenging, with one exception but we will not go into that, as it will spoil the entire game.
Lies of P takes heavy inspiration from Bloodborne, and it is the closest thing to having Bloodborne on PC other than emulation. And there you have it, these are our 5 best Soulslike games to play in 2025.
