Discover the 5 biggest Elden Ring mysteries that are still unsolved and have left fans puzzled with our list.
Hidetaka Miyazaki has always been a big fan of open-ended storytelling. He gives players some hints and clues via item descriptions or dialogues and expects fans to figure out the rest on their own. The problem is, despite these hints, some parts of Elden Ring’s lore are still unsolved, leaving lore experts puzzled. So, we will list the 5 biggest Elden Ring mysteries.
1. Identity of Nanaya
Nanaya is the supposed wife of Midra, the Lord of Frenzied Flame. After Midra became the Lord of Frenzied and was confined by the Inquisitors, Nanaya told him to “endure.” Her emphasis on Midra’s suffering puzzled everyone, questioning why she could be so dedicated to the Flame of Frenzy. Many players came to the conclusion that she may be Shabriri, based on her smile and actions. But unfortunately, we do not have a concrete answer.
2. The Gloam Eyed Queen
In Elden Ring, The Gloam Eyed Queen was an Empyrean who supposedly was the leader of the Godskins. However, the Queen was defeated by Maliketh, and her fate afterwards is a mystery. The only clue we have is Melina, who has a dark-blue eye in the Frenzied Flame ending. Many players speculate that Melina could be the Gloam Eyed Queen, or a reincarnation of sorts. But in truth, we have no solid answer.
3. The Outer Gods
Elden Ring’s Outer Gods are similar in concept to the Great Ones in Bloodborne. They grant benefits to their worshippers and sometimes show interest in the affairs of man, like the Greater Will did. But other than this, we know nothing about them. We do not know why the Greater Will abandoned everything, and we do not know what these Outer Gods look like.
4. Godwyn
After the Black Knife assassins killed Godwyn’s soul at Ranni’s behest, his body deformed, and he became the Prince of Death. This also originated the spread of Deathblight in The Lands Between. While Miquella did figure out how to save Godwyn through an eclipse, he never went through with it. We do not know how or why he abandoned Godwyn, and the DLC did not answer that question. Additionally, Godwyn’s corpse is still there in The Lands Between spreading Deathblight, and nothing came of that either.
5. Messmer’s Father
While it is easy to say that Messmer’s father is Radagon, based on the hair color and Messmer’s Butterfly, it does not make sense. The timeline does not add up, as Radagon and Marika met after Godfrey’s exile. While we could argue that they somehow met before, we have no concrete answer. This is yet another mystery that is unsolved in Elden Ring.
