With the impending release of Monster Hunter Wilds in February, fans are busy speculating which monsters will be present in the game. While Capcom has revealed loads of new monsters, including its flagship, Arkveld, longtime fans would be eager to know which monsters are making a comeback in the latest entry.

Here, we will list some of the most loved monsters from the Portable games in the Monster Hunter series, whose returns would surely excite fans.

5 MH Portable Monsters Who Should Return in Monster Hunter Wilds

1) Lagiacrus

First introduced in Monster Hunter 3, Lagiacrus also made its way into Monster Hunter Generations and Generations Ultimate. Although primarily dwelling underwater, the monster is also highly dangerous on land. It is a leviathan monster, which means it dominates the aquatic food chain. Lagiacrus can deliver devastating electric shocks. The developer has continuously talked about Leviacrus for a long time, which just shows their love for this particular handheld MH monster. And, with leviathans making their way back into Monster Hunter Wilds, now is the perfect time to reintroduce Leviacrus into the fold.

2) Malzeno

This Elder Dragon first wowed fans when the Sunbreak expansion for Monster Hunter Rise released. It featured as the flagship of Sunbreak, meaning the dragon was the first monster that the game introduced to them. The monster has a symbiotic relationship with Qurio, which allows it to inflict Bloodblight on its enemies. This effect means that Malzeno’s enemies get significantly weakened and their vitality drains too.

It would be great to see either Malzeno or its even more powerful variant, the Primordial Malzeno in the upcoming game. Although it might be too early for their return seeing as how MH Rise: Sunbreak released in 2023, we’re sure fans would absolutely love to square off against this Elder Dragon once more.

3) Magnamalo

If you’ve played Monster Hunter Rise, you might already be familiar with Magnamalo or its even more dangerous variant, the Scorned Magnamalo. It is the first ever fanged wyvern monster to have a variant. Highly aggressive in its attack and even more unpredictable, the Magnamalo fight is one of the most difficult throughout MH Rise. You have to be extremely quick to evade this monster’s attacks. Unlike many other monsters in the series, Magnamalo rarely lets up and keeps coming up with offensive maneuvers.

Due to the sheer speed of its attacks and its aggressive nature, Magnamalo or its variant could be a worthy addition to the list of monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds. Its return could also provide a healthy dose of challenge for any new players who haven’t previously faced the Wyvern.

4) Gammoth

This female Fanged Beast debuted in the fourth generation of Monster Hunter Generations. Resembling a woolly mammoth, Gammoth has the reputation of being one of the strongest monsters you come across in the game. This monster resides in snowy regions, and one of its abilities is to breath snow through its trunk. The snow can cover its enemies, preventing them from moving. It can also create a vortex with its trunk, which pulls hunters towards the monster and traps them in a dangerous position.

Monster Hunter Wilds showcased several regions covered in snow, making it the perfect entry to bring back Gammoth from its hibernation. Also, the monster is among the few to have never starred in any of the mainline games besides Generations and Generations Ultimate.

5) Seregios

A bipedal flying wyvern, Seregios, is a monster that players first encountered in Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. The monster is capable of firing sharp, quill-like appendages at its enemies. Besides those, its extremely sharp talons can make quick work of players who take the monster lightly. Another interesting tidbit is that Seregios is a known rival of Rathalos. This latter monster has been confirmed for Monster Hunter Wilds. So, it is natural to expect that Capcom plans to bring Seregios into the fold too.

Another major hint that Seregios could be coming to the upcoming game is that the wyvern is native to the undocumented lands. This is exactly the region where the latest entry in the series is about to take place. So, it just makes sense for Seregios to be in the game.
