Are you ready to face some scary monsters? Discover the 5 most terrifying monsters from the Monster Hunter series.
The Monster Hunter is a fantasy-based media franchise by Capcom that primarily focuses on various hunters and their journey towards slaying dangerous monsters throughout the world. Monster Hunter: World is the last released installment of the main series, while the upcoming Monster Hunter Wilds is scheduled to release in 2025.
As the series primarily focuses on monster hunting, players encounter different types of monsters throughout the game. However, some of them are deadlier and scarier than the others. Today, we are going to look at some of the most terrifying monsters of the Monster Hunter Series.
1) Fatalis
Fatalis is a first-generation Elder Dragon with black scales, white spines, and muscular wings. It is introduced first in Monster Hunter and appears throughout the series. Regardless of its massive size, it can perform fast and deadly attacks. It is considered one of the toughest bosses in history, as it possesses immense strength and the ability to generate immense amounts of heat.
Flame Breath is the primary attack of the Fatalis, and it can also attack with its tail and jaw. This intelligent and sadistic monster is extremely hostile toward humans. Its mere presence makes other monsters fear, and its awakening may often be linked to natural disasters.
2) Alatreon
The third-generation Elder Dragon Alatreon was first introduced in Monster Hunter 3 and also appeared in Monster Hunter World: Iceborne. Along with Fatalis, Alatreon is also regarded as one of the difficult bosses in the series.
With the help of its horns, it can control elements such as Dragon, Fire, Ice, Thunder, and Water. Alatreon’s scale often glows in various colors based on the element it is currently controlling. This gigantic monster shoots flame, ice, lightning, and flammable fluids, and because of its territorial and extremely aggressive nature, Alatreon stands as one of the most feared monsters in the series.
3) Shah Dalamadur
Shah Dalamadur, a fourth-generation Elder Dragon, appears in Monster Hunter 4 and Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. It is actually a skin-shedded version of regular Dalamadur. This massive serpent with a snake-like body looks terrifying with poisonous fangs and spikes along the body.
Shah Dalamadur shares several similar attack patterns with Dalamadur such as paralytic attacks and fire attacks. It can also summon meteors and emit extreme heat. It has an unstable body temperature, which makes its body resistant to attacks when cold and vulnerable when hot.
4) Shara Ishvalda
When it comes to terrifying monsters, we can’t keep Shara Ishvalda off the list. This fifth-generation Elder Dragon does have creepy large eyes which makes it terrifying. Their eyes also create an optical illusion that stares directly at the players instead of the hunter.
Shara Ishvalda has two forms, one with its body covered with a kind of armor formed by rocks and minerals. Once defeated, Shara Ishvalda reveals its true form. This monster causes tremors and eruptions by manipulating the earth and also emits supersonic blasts. Shara Ishvalda appears in Monster Hunter World: Iceborne.
5) Savage Deviljho
Finally, we end our list with Savage Deviljho. Belongs to the Brute Wyvern class monster, Savage Deviljho is a Savage variant of Deviljho. They resemble a T-Rex but have more teeth all around their mouth, making it one of the most terrifying monsters.
This scary monster was first introduced in Monster Hunter 3 and then made several appearances throughout the series. The Savage Deviljho is faster, stronger, and can perform larger breath attacks than the normal version. This brutal and aggressive monster can be found in various environments, such as deserts, forests, tundras, and volcanic areas.
