Dragon Ball Sparking Zero puts you right in the middle of planet-shattering battles between the strongest warriors in the universe. In such a situation, any one slip-up could change the flow and direction of a battle and decide the winner. With high stakes like these, mastery of the game’s mechanics and moves is a must. The game has a battle training system that elaborates on the game’s mechanics and helps strengthen your fundamentals. But with such an extensive list of mechanics to master, it can be overwhelming to pick the most important ones.

In this list, we go over 5 moves you need to master in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero to give you the edge against your foes.

1) Step/Short Dash/Dragon Dash

The Step, Short Dash, and Dragon Dash in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero are the game’s version of distance closers. The step closes in small distances, the short dash is for slightly larger gaps, and the Dragon Dash closes in long distances in a few seconds. Closing in gaps is crucial against enemies that rapidly spam beams (think Great Ape Vegeta). Close in the gap and punish your opponent before they can use a beam.

2) Revenge Counter

The combat in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero is fast-paced, and you will find yourself at the end of a seemingly endless combo more often than not. The Revenge Counter (RS) lets you break free of the barrage and opens up a small opportunity to initiate a barrage of your own. The Revenge counter uses two skill points, so stock up accordingly but it can be countered using Perception.

3) Perception

Perception is a defensive stance that you can utilise to counterattack enemy combos. Enter the stance by holding the Perception button. If you time the press just as the attack lands, you’ll enter Sonic Sway, which is a perfect dodge where your character sways and dodges each individual strike.

4) Z-Counter

The Z-Counter is a near-perfect instant transmission counter you’ve often seen play out in the anime. You teleport right behind the opponent as they are about to hit you, catching them by surprise and turning the tide in your favour. The Z-Counter necessitates precision and requires an understanding of enemy attack patterns and combos. Head to training and practice the Z-Counter.

5) Super Counter

The Super Counter is the strongest counter in the game, with no counter of its own. If timed correctly, you will knock the enemy back, leaving them open to beams and rush attacks. The Super Counter is perfect against opponents that rush aggressively and offer no breathing room.
