Let’s look back into the major GTA Online highlights for 2024 from big game updates, community achievements, and more.
The year 2024 is a thrilling year for Rockstar Games’ flagship title, GTA Online. While there is a ton of interesting new content added to the game, there are also some bugs and glitches that surfaced. On top of that, the community continues to get creative, using the game as a platform to produce impressive fan-made content. Needless to say, its player base sure knows how to push the boundaries of what’s possible in the virtual world of Los Santos.
Before the year ends, let’s look back at the major GTA Online highlights for 2024. I’ll be sharing not just major game updates, but also some trending topics from the community.

GTA Online Highlights for 2024
1. Agents of Sabotage Update
A ton of exciting new content in the game came in with the update. You get new missions, vehicles, sets of outfits, and many more. Additionally, it also adds a plethora of quality-of-life improvements that the community has been asking for quite a while.
This is the last major update for GTA Online before the year ends. However, Rockstar will still be adding more content in 2025 while waiting for the release of GTA 6.
2. Leaks Suggest GTA Online Was Supposed To Be Roleplay Focused
One of the biggest GTA leaks to happen involves cutting content from various installments. According to the design document leaks, GTA Online was allegedly going to focus more on the roleplay aspect. For example, players can choose to play as law enforcers and fight crime. Players who play as criminals and get caught by the police will go to court and will receive jail time if they get convicted.
It’s interesting to think about what GTA Online could have been. Would it still remain as one of the biggest titles after 12 years if it had different gameplay? Keep in mind that these leaks are yet to be confirmed by Rockstar Games themselves.
3. PC GTA Online Plagued by Cheaters
This has been a major problem in the game since its first inception. Community discussions have been voicing their concerns about the PC platform of GTA Online due to the rampant cheating in the servers. Due to this, some of the players are considering moving to console gaming.
This is purely speculative, but it’s likely one of the reasons GTA 6 is releasing on the consoles first. If the game includes an online multiplayer feature, there would be a lower likelihood of players finding cheats, compared to the PC version. The only problem would be bugs and glitches that other players might exploit.
4. Agency God Mode Glitch Fixed
The recent background update included a fix that caused the community to celebrate. The workaround for the Agency God Mode Glitch has been patched. This exploit basically turns you invincible during missions—a nightmare for other players who play fair, especially in PVP scenarios. Fortunately, Rockstar Games made quick work of this exploit in the recent update for the Agents of Sabotage. Hopefully, cheaters won’t find another workaround anytime soon.
5. Car Duplication Glitch for Infinite Money
One of the more recent issues of the game is the car duplication glitch in GTA Online. This allows players to duplicate any vehicle they choose and sell them for infinite money. It would seem that this exploit is still being abused by players.
6. Grand Theft Hamlet
On the bright side of the gaming community, directors Sam Crane and Pinny Grylls pulled off an incredible Shakespearean play in GTA Online. With nothing but a copy of the game and a dream, Grand Theft Hamlet premiered at the 2024 SXSW Film Festival. Not only did it win multiple awards, but it also earned an impressive 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Grand Theft Hamlet is set to release in the US on January 27, 2025. Yes, we are getting Grand Theft Hamlet before GTA 6.
