There are a bunch of strong cards to use within the digital Pokemon card game. Ex-cards usually stand out among these cards due to their stronger moves and high health pool. However, you should be careful while using them in battle, as taking down an ex card gets you two points.
However, some Ex-cards stand out over others in the current meta. Here are the best Ex-cards to use in Pokemon TCG Pocket for March 2025.
1. Arceus Ex Is the Best Ex-Card in Pokemon TCG Pocket
The creator of the Pokemon universe was recently added to the game in its newest expansion pack, Triumphant Light. Alongside this, he received a lot of supporting cards as well which made him even stronger. Arceus’ best deck will also include the likes of Dialga Ex as well, Mew Ex, and Shaymi,n among others.
Arceus has a really strong attack that can consistently put out 130 damage, with just three colorless energy. This makes him versatile, cheap and hard-hitting all at once. His Ability Fabled Luster, also lets him remain unaffected by any Special Conditions, which is just a bonus.
2. Mew Ex Can Counter Lots of Cards in Pokemon TCG Pocket
The 151st Pokemon is still very relevant in the meta and will likely continue to do so for some time. Mew is slotted into several decks, just because it’s a generally good card to have in the deck. Mew can counter a lot of strong Pokemon due to its unique move, Genome Hacking, which copies the opponent’s move.
Additionally, Mew is similar to Arceus in needing three colorless energy for its move. This makes it easy to use Mew in other decks without worrying about dual energy issues. Mew is often used as a counter against established boards and Pokemon.
3. Articuno Ex Has a Very Simple Deck in Pokemon TCG Pocket
The legendary bird of Ice is extremely useful to build around and use. The best Articuno deck revolves around just that one Pokemon, being supported by 18 other cards.
There, this deck becomes quite cheap to use, as it doesn’t have to rely on other rare or ex cards. Moreover, recent additions like Pokemon Tools and trainers like Cyrus only help Articuno control the match flow better. Moreover, since it uses water-type energy, it is easy to use cards like Irida and Misty to support Articuno.

4. Palkia Ex Has High Cost and Even Higher Damage
Water-type decks are generally doing well presently due to the presence of lots of support cards. Palkia Ex is going to be a very strong core member when supported by Manaphy and Vaporeon.
His signature move, Dimensional Storm, does 150 damage to the active Pokemon and also deals 20 damage to every benched Pokemon the opponent has. If the opponent has three benched Pokemon, this could mean that Palkia is capable of doing 210 damage. However, it does have a high energy cost (at four), which is why it has to be supported with energy-manipulating cards like Vaporeon and Manaphy.

Dialga is used in several decks other than just Steel ones, just for its energy-generating capabilities. Lastly, Dialga also has good prospects, considering energy generation is not something a lot of cards can do presently.
6. Darkrai Ex Attacks From the Bench in Pokemon TCG Pocket
The mythical dark Pokemon was dominating the meta for quite a while. Darkrai’s primary damage-dealing capability comes from its Ability, Nightmare Aura, which can damage the active enemy Pokemon every time Dark energy is placed on Darkrai from the Energy Zone. The key reason for Dakrai being considered strong comes from the fact that this ability can be triggered while Darkrai is on the bench.
Therefore, it can be used alongside cards like Dawn to deal damage and funnel energy into your active Pokemon. This ability can be timed with cards like Cyrus to get a crucial KO on an opponent’s card and also deal damage with your active Pokemon.
7. Leafeon Ex Breathes New Life Into Grass Type Decks
This Eevee-lution is extremely nice to use alongside other Grass type cards like Celebi. Leafeon can generate Grass-type energy for your benched Pokemon, letting Celebi get active faster.
Leafeon can help several grass type Pokemon by making them active and usable on the battle field very quickly. So, this card becomes a core part of many Grass decks.
