Mister Fantastic joins the Marvel Rivals roster as one of the first two members of the Fantastic Four. He may not look or sound too intimidating, but he can brew trouble on the battlefield, no matter where you are fighting.
This Season 1 character is a Duelist with surprisingly good Vanguard abilities too! In this article, we will explore his ability kit and also learn how to become the perfect Mister Fantastic. Don’t worry, we will also educate you on the best team composition and ways to counter this hero effectively.

How To Play Mister Fantastic in Marvel Rivals?
Mister Fantastic’s Mobility
Mister Fantastic doesn’t have a lot going on in terms of mobility. He has a regular speed, which can be outrun by the likes of Luna Snow (because of her ice-skating passive ability). However, he can move fast between groups of enemies using his skills.
If you wish to dash at two enemies one after the other, use Flexible Elongation to do so. It will also grant you some extra shield to help you eliminate them while also moving fast between targets.
Mister Fantastic’s Survivability
In terms of survivability, I would say Mister Fantastic can last longer than most land-dwelling Duelists. His HP starts at 350. However, abilities like Flexible Elongation, Elastic Strength, and Wedded Harmony can increase his HP significantly. This makes him withstand 1v1 and even 1v2 situations if he ever finds himself cornered. I don’t think he can survive without a good healer for long, but he can surely be on the battlefield for a long time before the enemies finally get to him.
Mister Fantastic Playstyle and Combos
Our favorite flexible hero doesn’t require any reloads for his punches. His primary attack is a combination of Groot’s and Venom’s. It acts more like Groot’s primary, while the “no reloading” feature is inspired by Venom’s primary attack.
I see him as more of a poking-brawler hero. He has a melee primary attack that can work from a considerable distance. This puts him at an advantage over characters who have to get up close or are typically called “diving characters.” So, if you see a Wolverine, Hulk, or Iron Fist, try eliminating them from a distance.
Try to keep away from the line of sight of heroes that operate from long distances. These include ranged duelists like Hela, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Punisher, etc. However, if you find yourself absorbing too much damage from a ranged character, you can absorb and send incoming damage their way for a better chance at surviving until you are healed.
Lastly, try to have a Strategist pocketing you during your Ultimate because it doesn’t give you any automatic shield or extra HP, and you can easily be taken down if you are targeting a Vanguard at their full health.
Best Team Composition With Mister Fantastic in Marvel Rivals
ROLE | CHARACTERS |
Vanguard | Venom, Hulk |
Duelist | The Punisher/Iron Fist |
Strategist | Invisible Woman, Cloak & Dagger |
Since Mister Fantastic is a mid-range brawler, it would make sense to have Vanguards that are diving characters instead, like Venom and Hulk. This will allow them to hold aggro during the match and divert attention away from Mister Fantastic while he deals damage from behind the frontline.
Similarly, the second Duelist, other than the flexible hero, can be The Punisher. He can keep his Assault Rifle for most of the match but switch to the Shotgun whenever needed for close combat.
Strategists like Invisible Woman and C&D will help heal the team from a distance while also aiding in combat when the need arises.
Mister Fantastic Counters in Marvel Rivals
The real threat to Mister Fantastic is characters who can get up close with swift movements and lay a beating on him. Long-range heroes are also included in the list because Mister Fantastic often can’t reach them. Following is a list of characters who I think can counter Mister Fantastic pretty well:
- Black Widow
- Hawkeye
- Iron Man
- Storm
- Hela
- The Punisher
- Wolverine
- Black Panther
- Iron Fist
- Loki
- Peni Parker
- Hulk
- Thor
All the names on the list have the potential to obliterate Mister Fantastic when played right. Ranged characters can easily put down Mister Fantastic. Flying characters like Storm and Iron Man will mostly be out of range for Mister Fantastic, allowing them to deal damage to him easily.
Lastly, diving characters who deal melee damage can defeat the leader of the Fantastic Four without much trouble. This is because his attacks are more effective in mid-range combat situations. Wolverine and Iron Fist can attack so fast that the new Duelist wouldn’t have the time to get away.
Tips and Tricks To Play Mister Fantastic in Marvel Rivals
The character is pretty new to the game, so we haven’t discovered a plethora of tips and tricks for him yet. However, there are a few that you can use and find effective during your Marvel Rivals playthrough as Mister Fantastic:
- Stick with the Vanguards. Even though Reed Richards is a poking-brawler mix, you will benefit more if you stick with your tanks. This is because you would be enough of a nuisance to confuse the enemy team that they will get overwhelmed. Plus, using your abilities will also grant you a Vanguard-level health bar.
- Keep an eye on the countdown and use abilities as soon as they are ready. Don’t wait around for all your skills. You can try waiting out the Flexible Elongation since it grants bonus HP and can be useful in dire situations. However, we suggest that you keep using them all in quick succession. This will help build up your Inflated state, which can obliterate enemy lines.
- Try focusing on enemies that are otherwise out of range for the rest of your Vanguards. This lets you cover them in your own unique way while they focus on others.
