In this guide, we shall go over the points of no return in Dynasty Warriors Origins so you can optimize your playthrough.
Dynasty Warriors Origins is out, and fans cannot stop raving about it. The game has been widely declared as a return to form for the series, with improved gameplay and a greater emphasis on story. The latter, especially, is very fleshed out and offers plenty of choices that determine your path. As you play along through the story, you will reach several points of no return. These are points where your choices are locked in, and you’re locked out of the factions, storyline missions, and bonds tied to other choices.
If you’re playing through the game worried you may miss out on something important after a point of no return, we’re here to help. In this guide, we shall go over the points of no return in Dynasty Warriors Origins.
Points of No Return
Faction Storylines
Dynasty Warriors Origins makes you pick a side between the game’s available factions at the end of Chapter 3. Once you make your decision, you will be locked out of the storylines and missions linked to other factions. It is also possible to get locked out of the faction storylines earlier on at the points we’ve listed below:
- You will have to complete the following battles to reach the first point of no return in Chapter 3: Suppression of Yan Province, Battle of Jieqiao, Battle of Beihai, Assault of Nanyang, Siege of Fan Castle, and Battle of Xiangyang.
- After completing these battles, you will reach the Battle of Xu Province, where you have to pick between Wei or Shu, and you will lose out on the missions of the one you don’t pick.
- The Battle of Xiaopei is the next point of no return. Here, you have to pick between Shu or Wu, and lose out on missions for the one you don’t pick.
After these points of no return, run through the battles in the chapter as intended. After the battles are done, you have to select a side. Each faction wants you to join their cause. You then have to pick one faction, which will lock out the other two and end the chapter.
Bonds to Form
Throughout Dynasty Warriors Origins, you can form bonds with characters. However, these, too, have a point of no return for some characters, as we’ve listed below:
- Dong Zhuo: You can only form a bond with Zhuo up till the Battle of Hulao Gate in Chapter 2 of the game.
- Sun Jian: If you’ve taken the Sun Jian Forces route, you can form a bond up till the Battle of Xiangyang in Chapter 3. If you’re with the other forces, the “Time is passing” notification is your cue.
- Zhang Jiao: You cannot form a bond with Zhang Jiao after the Final Battle against the Yellow Turbans at the end of Chapter 1.
