7 Timeless FPS Titles
1. Titanfall 2
EA’s Titanfall 2 came out in October 2016 and is an immersive experience. Eye-pleasing graphics, a gripping story, solid sound, and wonderful gameplay—Titanfall 2 is a stellar FPS title and more.
In this game, you take the role of Militia Rifleman Jack Cooper, who is reluctantly paired as the pilot of the Vanguard-class Titan, BT-7274. Titans in this game are mech-style robots to be used in a wide range of tasks.
Jack Cooper and BT-7274 begin their journey on the planet Typhon. Subsequently, they advance through the nine campaign missions in the game—forming a unique bond and giving rise to some memorable moments. You play both in the Pilot and Titan modes throughout the game—each having unique properties.
However, the game is anything but a piece of cake. Your reflexes and quick decision-making faculties will be put to the test. This, in turn, adds to the fun of the game.
2. Battlefield: Bad Company 2
Snipers, assault rifles, aerial attacks, and more—Battlefield: Bad Company 2 has everything fans love from an FPS title. Although, the Battlefield series has been better known for its multiplayer side, this time the campaign mode delivered.
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 was released in March 2010. The original characters from the previous Bad Company title are in this game too. It is a worldwide journey in the hunt for a super weapon, promising top-notch first-person shooting action all the way.
This game does not build much breathing space for tension build-up within the story. From being armed with a sniper rifle to manning a machine gun—the scene keeps changing. You play this game not for the story but for the action it promises.
3. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
Fans of the Call of Duty series can all relate to these two words—Shepherd’s betrayal. This iconic, cult-classic moment took place in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
The game provided more than that one incident. It was brilliant in both the single-player and the multiplayer departments. Favela, Karachi, and Afghan were a few of the iconic multiplayer maps Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 possessed. The campaign mode featured a war between America and Russia. The character designs of Roach, Soap, and Ghost are iconic and forever etched in the minds of the fans.
4. Far Cry 2
Released in October 2008, the setting and the open-ended gameplay of Far Cry 2 took the gaming world by storm upon its release. You take the role of a mercenary in an unnamed African nation in the middle of a civil war. Desert, savannah, and jungle—this game had it all. It was your call whether you wanted an all-out frontal attack or a stealthy approach to a mission. The game had jeeps, quadbikes, boats, and gliders as vehicles. With realistic physics and environmental effects, Far Cry 2 is still worth picking up for a delightful experience.
5. Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Vegas 2
Indulge in the adventures of the counterterrorism unit, Team Rainbow, with the March 2008 addition to the Rainbow Six series, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Vegas 2.
