With anticipation building for the release of Delta Force’s highly anticipated Black Hawk Down campaign, the question of whether the campaign will be free-to-play lingers in the minds of players. Unfortunately, it seems like players will have to separately purchase the Delta Force campaign.

Delta Force Campaign To Be Released As DLC

As revealed in Delta Force Dev Diary Episode 4 on YouTube, the developers have confirmed that the Black Hawk Down campaign mode will not be free to play. Instead, it will be available as Downloadable Content (DLC).

The Delta Force Black Hawk Down campaign is a narrative-rich mode designed for both solo and cooperative gameplay. The campaign is built from the ground up on Unreal Engine 5. It is inspired by the iconic 2001 movie directed by Ridley Scott. The campaign follows a unit of US soldiers sent to Mogadishu to capture two top lieutenants of a local warlord. However, the mission goes awry when Somali rebels attack, which causes their chopper to go down. The aftermath follows the troops’ struggle to survive, with US soldiers outnumbered by Somali rebels.

If you load up the game now, you will find three available modes, with one locked out: Black Hawk Down. This mode will serve as the game’s campaign, providing a co-op experience where multiple players can progress through the story together as a unit of soldiers.

The developers have also confirmed that the campaign will not include additional microtransactions. This ensures that players won’t encounter further monetization beyond the initial purchase. However, the developers have not yet announced the official price for the DLC.

Release Date

The developers initially scheduled the Black Hawk Down campaign mode to go live in January 2025. However, the developers have delayed the release, and the campaign will now join the shooter during Season 2 Starfall. The developers stated that they want to provide the best experience possible to fans, and to ensure the game mode meets quality standards, they are making final optimizations and giving it the polish it deserves.
