One of the major story missions in Dynasty Warriors Origins is the Battle of Guangyang. This is part of Chapter 1 and puts you in conflict with the Yellow Turbans as a volunteer fighter. While you will be joining Liu Bei and Zhang Fei, you still need to make preparations and strategize on the battlefield against the forces of Chen Yuanzhi. How To Complete Battle of Guangyang in Dynasty Warriors Origins?
Win and Defeat Conditions
Before the mission starts, you need to know what the conditions are to keep in mind to avoid losing the fight:
- You win the battle by defeating Chen Yuanzhi.
- The mission fails if Liu Bei loses morale and flees from battle.
Throughout the battle, you need to keep the morale of your allies high by helping them fight waves of enemies. If your team gets intimidated, Liu Bei might be forced to flee from the fight.
Battle Preparation
Here are a few suggestions you can consider in Battle Preparation:
- Weapons: Longsword
- Battle Arts: Swallow Slash, Falcon Flurry, SP. Palm Strike
- Accessories: Ziluans’ Sash
Keep in mind that your playstyle is what matters in every playthrough. If you are comfortable with other weapons and battle arts, consider using them in this fight.
Battle of Guangyang Walkthrough
Before the mission starts, you need to progress through the story and unlock the You Province Waymark. This will allow you to proceed further in the campaign, including the Battle of Guangyang mission in Dynasty Warriors Origins.
1. Fight With Lie Bei
After you depart, the mission greets you with a cutscene showing the protagonist, the Wanderer, having a meeting with Liu Bei and Zhang Fei. You can skip this cutscene. However, if you want the full immersion, we suggest you let it play out.
2. Fight Your Way to the Yellow Turban Headquarters
Clear waves of enemies as you head to the Yellow Turban Headquarters on the northern side of the map. Keep an eye on your allies and don’t let them get overwhelmed by enemies. Keep your allies’ morale high by assisting them. If they drop too low, you might lose the fight.
While you’re at it, make sure you take down as many enemies as you can to stack up some Skill Points for your character.
3. Take Down Chen Yuanzhi
The win condition of this mission is to take down Chen Yuanzhi at the final area of the map. You need to be quick and attack him immediately before he can counterattack. If you’re low on health, check the pots scattered around the area. They contain meat buns that you can consume and regenerate lost HP.
Once you defeat Chen Yuanzhi, his Yellow Turban forces will retreat, securing your victory in the battle and completing the Battle of Guangyang in Dynasty Warriors Origins.
Battle Rewards for Battle of Guangyang
Completing the mission will reward you with the following:
- Weapon Proficiency Upgrade
- Level EXP
- Item Loots

Weapon Proficiency Upgrade
Depending on the weapon you used during the mission, you will gain more proficiency points for that weapon. This allows you to unlock more powerful arts.
Level EXP
Gaining enough EXP to level up will allow you to unlock more abilities and increase your overall stats.
Item Loots
Items dropped by enemies or looted from pots scattered throughout the map can be picked up and equipped. Alternatively, you can sell them for a bit of Gold or use them to reforge other weapons and create a more powerful one.
Tips and Tricks
Here are a few tips and tricks you can take note of while doing the Battle of Guangyang mission in Dynasty Warriors Origins:
- Common gaming habits like breaking pots around the map can be handy as they contain healing items.
- High-courage enemies can use group attacks that cannot be blocked. You can counter this by using special arts at the right time.
- Try and stagger enemies if you can. Officers with glowing Fortitude Gauges can be staggered if you break their gauge. This makes them receive bonus damage from attacks.
- Do an Assault attack on staggered enemies to maximize your damage to them.
- If you want to end the fight soon, find and defeat the main officer to force the enemy soldiers to fall back.
