Hero Ban is a controversial feature in Marvel Rivals. It is only available in the Competitive mode in ranks Diamond and higher. The process is simple, everybody picks a character without locking it, Team A bans a hero, Team B bans a hero, and this is repeated until both teams have banned two heroes.

After imposing four bans in a match, the match will finally kick off. Stakes feel higher at higher ranks, and one shouldn’t take this process lightly. We suggest that you take a look at the following list of characters that we think you should prioritize banning in each match.

1. Loki

The trickster god is the greatest threat to your team and even more of a threat to your mental health. There are very few ways to counter him because of his Ability Kit. It’s a good thing that he has a low HP bar. However, chances are, you will hardly find openings to put him down. Unless there is a dedicated player on your team who has made it their sole purpose to take out enemy Strategists, especially Loki, he will prove to be the most annoying character in the match. We suggest that you ban him so that the enemy team doesn’t run away with an unexpected victory.

2. Hulk

One of the best parts about having Bruce Banner on your team is that he can turn into the Hulk. That’s also the worst part about this character if he is on the enemy team. I have observed that people often don’t change into the Hulk until they are low on health as Banner. This makes sense because switching to the Hulk restores his own health completely, and he is able to leap without cooldown. He can take down flying characters with his leap like Iron Man and Storm while also tanking an incredible amount of incoming damage and dealing impressive damage as a Vanguard. His leap offers him good mobility. So, if he jumps to your backline, there is no saving you until your Vanguards come to help.

3. Wolverine

As a brawler duelist, Wolverine is one of those characters who would benefit from fighting at the frontline rather than sneaking to the back and taking out enemy Strategists. I have observed that Wolverines who survive longer than others are the ones who are taking on the enemy Vanguards and getting healed from their Strategists. His abilities make him perfect for keeping pressure on the opponents. So, if you don’t want to suffer the same fate as we just mentioned, consider banning him for a much easier match.

4. Storm

Storm is one of the few flying characters on the Marvel Rivals roster. Despite having a flying ability, she’s comparatively slower than Iron Man. However, the developers buffed her for Season 1, and now she can be a real headache in a match if your teammates are all brawlers or are just not focused on shooting her down. She has plenty of skills up her sleeves that can make her a nuisance. Moreover, she can buff her own team while debuffing the opponents. So, it is best if you keep her at bay.

5. Luna Snow

Luna Snow is one of those Marvel characters who debuted in a video game. She was introduced in Marvel Future Fight, back in 2018. After having a few appearances here and there, she is back again in Marvel Rivals as a pretty powerful character. She can either heal her allies or damage enemies using her primary attack. However, this is not where she shines. Luna Snow has an attack where she can freeze her target to the spot. This allows her to counter Ultimates. Don’t forget that she also has an Ultimate, which can turn her and her teammates invincible by unlimited healing.
