The Akatsuki is one of the most popular anime groups in the whole of anime. This article covers the strongest Akatsuki members.

The Akatsuki is a group of very strong evil ninjas in the Naruto story. They used to be normal ninjas who lived in different villages, but they left due to one reason or another. Each member has amazing powers that make them really dangerous. Some of them cannot die, while others have rare abilities that let them do amazing things.
As a group, the Akatsuki wanted to change the world in their own way, and they were willing to go to extreme lengths to do so. Sometimes, they harm and, on some occasions, kill people for the sake of their goal.
They wear black coats with red cloud patterns on them and usually work in teams of two. The Akatsuki are so strong that even some of the best ninjas in the show fell prey to them. The list ranks ten Akatsuki members in terms of their strength.
10. Zetsu

Zetsu was unique because he had two parts: Black Zetsu and White Zetsu. Black Zetsu was created by Kaguya and White Zetsu was a victim of Kaguya’s Infinite Tsukuyomi. White Zetsu was not very strong, and he mostly used his powers to find out what the Akatsuki needed to know. Black Zetsu on the other hand is a master manipulator who carefully planned out the revival of Kaguya.
Even though he wasn’t good at fighting, he was very useful to the group because he was good at getting information about their enemies. Zetsu could hide in the ground and bushes to watch other people without being seen. He could also move through buildings and the ground like a ghost, which made him very hard to catch. Zetsu is very low on our list because they could not fight very well. However, they were efficient and got things done, which made them useful.
9. Kakuzu

The near-immortal Kakuzu was a really old ninja from Takigakure who had five hearts inside his body. Each heart gave him different powers, like manipulating fire, water, lightning, wind, or earth.
This meant that to kill him, you had to destroy all five hearts. He could also make black strings come out of his body to grab people or steal their hearts. Kakuzu was really in love with money and was good at getting money for the Akatsuki by claiming the bounty on some wanted criminals.
Kakuzu had lived for ages and fought in a lot of battles, the most notable being against the First Hokage. He was very difficult to defeat because even if one of his hearts was destroyed, he had four left.
But Naruto defeated him, with his Wind Style: Rasenshueriken, which shattered all of his hearts in one blow. In his time in the Akatsuki, he was partnered with Hidan and was referred to as the Zombie Combo because of their undying nature.
8. Hidan

In the second half of the Zombie Combo, we have Hidan. Hidan had a special power that made him impossible to kill. As a result of tons of experiments in the ways of Jashin (his god), Hidan became immortal.
And for one of his abilities, to hurt someone, he had to get a tiny bit of their blood and stand in a circle that he drew on the ground. Then, when he hurt himself while standing in the circle, the other person would feel the same pain. This made him really scary to fight against because he could hurt people without getting close to them.
This fighter from Yugakure loved to fight and cause pain, and he talked a lot about his god during battles. But he was not very smart, and he had to do his special circle thing before he could hurt anyone remotely. This is why a smart ninja named Shikamaru was able to trick him and bury him deep underground, where he still lives today but can’t hurt anyone.
7. Deidara

As an artist from the Hidden Stone, Deidara created explosive art. He had mouths in his hands that could chew up explosive clay and make it into bombs. He could shape the clay into different things like birds, spiders, or butterflies, and then make them blow up whenever he wanted.
Deidara often flew around on a big clay bird and dropped his explosions on people from high up. He believed that his explosions were beautiful art and got really mad when people disrespected his art.
His ultimate attack was an explosion that was capable of blowing up everything around him for miles. He fought against Sasuke because he killed the man he wanted to kill, Orochimaru. Deidara activated this technique in a desperate attempt to kill Sasuke as he was losing already.
It didn’t, of course, and the technique cost him his life. Unfortunately for Deidara, Sasuke managed to evade the attack and survived. Even though he lost, his explosion powers were really strong as they almost killed Sasuke.
6. Sasori

From the Hidden Sand, Sasori was very good at managing puppet dolls. At the point of his introduction to the show, he had also changed himself to a puppet. The only part of him that was still human was his heart which he carried around with him at all times in a small box.
As a fighter in the Akatsuki, Sasori was strong. He was able to control up to 100 puppets at once, which was the same as having a full army which made him one of the strongest Akatsuki members. All of his puppets had poison on their tools, so even one cut could potentially kill his enemies.
Of all his puppets, The Third Kazekage, a very powerful ninja leader, was the puppet that he loved the most. This puppet could move iron sand around and shape it in different ways when fighting. Sasori could not die as long as his heart in the box was safe. But Sakura and his grandmother, Lady Chiyo, beat him in a big fight because they worked together so well. They figured out where his heart was and managed to break the box.
5. Konan

The sole girl in the Akatsuki from the Hidden Rain, Konan, possessed the amazing ability to manipulate paper. She could transform the paper into anything she wished, such as wings to enable her to fly or into butterflies or sharp spears. Konan could also turn herself into paper and this made her really hard to hit because the paper would just split apart when someone tried to attack her. She was Nagato’s best friend and would stop at nothing to keep him safe.
To try to kill Obito, she used her strongest ability, which involved so many pieces of paper that it resembled a lake. And she nearly won that fight but Obito used his Izanagi to rewrite the outcome. Konan was incredibly smart and never wavered from her convictions. As a member of the Akatsuki, she was considered dangerous but beneath all the pain and suffering, Konan was and was incredibly smart and insightful.
4. Kisame

People referred to Kisame as a monster because of his strength. He carried a unique sword called Samehada that was alive, and he had a shark-like appearance. Kisame could gain strength by using the sword to absorb the chakras of others and use them for himself. Samehada’s interesting feature was that it only worked with those it liked. Kisame could even join with his blade to gain more powers and recover from injuries.
He could conjure entire lakes out of thin air and was very skilled at using water in battle. He was even stronger and could swim very quickly in the water. In addition, he was resilient and could take a lot of hits without suffering any damage.
His feats and amount of chakra make him one of the strongest Akatsuki members. Unfortunately for him, he took his life after being defeated by Might Guy in the Fourth Great Ninja War. He does this to avoid being interrogated and potentially revealing Akatsuki’s secrets which shows Kisame’s loyal side.
3. Itachi

Itachi was one of the strongest Akatsuki members in Naruto. His unique crimson eyes, known as the Sharingan, were capable of incredible feats. With these eyes, he could mimic the movements of others and create powerful illusions known as genjutsu that could fool anyone. Even if only a second had elapsed in real life, his Tsukuyomi (stronger genjutsu) was so potent that it could give people the impression that they were being harmed for days.
Additionally, he could summon Susanoo to protect and fight for him. This warrior possessed a shield (Yata Mirror) that could deflect any blow and a unique sword (Totsuka Blade) that could seal anything it stabbed.
Itachi was also incredibly intelligent and had a fast sense of how to defeat his adversaries. He was a kind guy who pretended to be evil in order to protect his younger brother, which was revealed after his death in the fight against said brother. Uchiha Itachi was among the strongest Akatsuki members in the show.
2. Nagato (Pain)

For most of the narrative, Nagato led the Akatsuki as Pain and was the ruler of the Hidden Rain. As a fighter, Nagato fought using six other bodies (Yahiko’s and others) rather than his own. Each of these bodies, which were all named Pain, had unique abilities.
Nagato was able to do this because of his extraordinary abilities due to his eyes, known as the Rinnegan. One body was capable of pushing and pulling objects with great force, another was capable of reviving the dead, and the others all possessed other interesting abilities.
He had the strength to wipe out an entire village in a matter of seconds. Fighting him was like fighting six really strong people at the same time who all share the same vision. At the end of the day, he helped Naruto because Naruto helped him remember that peace was more important. In an effort to revive everyone he had killed after attacking Konoha, Nagato died. He was among the strongest Akatsuki members and most formidable ninjas in Naruto.
1. Obito

The crafty and powerful Obito pretended to be a goof called Tobi for the longest time. After his time with Madara, Obito concludes that the world is evil and decides to “save” it. As a result of his Sharingan, he had an amazing power that let him walk through things and let things move through him.
This meant that if he wanted, nothing could come in contact with him. He could also send himself and other things to another world whenever he wanted. Later in the story, he got even stronger when he took one of Nagato’s Rinnegan and became the jinchuriki (host) of the Ten-Tails.
What made Obito the strongest Akatsuki member was not just his powers, but how smart he was at using them. He could make plans that would take years to work out, and he was really good at tricking people. Because he could avoid every attack and had so many different powers, he was the strongest member of the whole group. Ultimately, he died in the battle against Kaguya but for a good cause.
Conclusion
The Akatsuki had some of the strongest villains in Naruto and some of the most popular anime characters. Each member had special powers that made them really dangerous in their own way.
But the strongest ones – Itachi, Nagato, and Obito – were in a class all by themselves. They were so powerful that they could fight entire armies by themselves. Even though they were bad guys, many of them had sad stories that made them who they were. Their group changed the ninja world forever and showed how awesome a writer Masashi Kishimoto is.
