Find out how you can upgrade your Palico in Monster Hunter Wilds to get the maximum support out of your Felyne partner.
If you are coming into this game from Monster Hunter World, you will find some significant changes to your Palico. You can no longer access the Felyne Gadgets and request for heals or items from them. Your Palico can use certain items like healing, traps, or even utilize machines to help you during a fight. However, your Palico will use this of their own accord, and you cannot choose which one to use.
All of these Palico utilities will not be available from the beginning. Your Palico has its own side mission line, completing which will gradually upgrade its abilities and tools. In this article, we will explain all the Palico upgrades in Monster Hunter Wilds and how you can do them.
How to Upgrade Your Palico in Monster Hunter Wilds
To upgrade your Palico in Monster Hunter Wilds, you must complete its entire side mission lineup. There are five side missions that your Palico will request you to do:
- Healing Help
- Flash Course
- A Gutsy Move
- Rath-from-Above, Go!
- Purrfect Plundering
Here are the details of these side missions to upgrade your Palico in Monster Hunter Wilds:
Healing Help
The first side mission will have your Palico request you to capture a Vigorwasp in Monster Hunter Wilds. Vigorwasps are found commonly all over the world of the map, and you can catch them anywhere. Simply select the Capture Net from your radial wheel, and use your slingshot to capture this. Once done, report back to your Palico at any Base Camp to complete the first side mission.
Completing this will improve the healing capability of the Vigorwasp that your Palico provides when you are low on health during battles.
Flash Course
Similar to the previous mission, you will have to capture Flashflies in this one. These are also very commonly found in Monster Hunter Wilds, and you will need to use your Capture Net from the radial dial to get this. Once again, report back to your Palico at any Base Camp to proceed your Palico’s mission line.
This side mission will allow your Palico to sometimes place a small lantern with Flashflies during a hunt in Monster Hunter Wilds. You can use it to blind monsters in general and take advantage of their confusion to deal damage.
A Gutsy Move
This time, your Palico will ask you to capture a Giant Vigorwasp in Monster Hunter Wilds. These are similar to normal Vigorwasps, but are bigger and heal more. They are also found in the wild, but are not as common. Generally, the Scarlet Forest is a good place to search for this endemic lifeform.
This is a crucial side mission to upgrade your Palico in Monster Hunter Wilds, because it gives you one free life during hunts. If you have not used the SOS Flare, then your Palico will be able to revive you once after you faint in Monster Hunter Wilds. A second life is a great blessing to have during difficult hunts.
Rath-from-Above, Go!
In this side mission, your Palico will request you to hunt a Quematrice in Monster Hunter Wilds. This hunt will take place in the Windward Plains. During the fight, your Palico will pop out a new tool – a flying tank! Your Felyne partner essentially brings a small hot-air balloon like device that can shoot at the monster.
Once you are done with the hunt, report back to your Palico in any Base Camp. Completing this will add this device to your Palico’s arsenal of moves. Henceforth, your Palico will often pull out this tank and use it during fights against all monsters.
Purrfect Plundering
This is the final mission to upgrade your Palico in Monster Hunter Wilds, where you have to hunt a Guardian Ebony Odogaron. Once again, your Palico will bring out a new device, which is called the Purrfect Plunderer. This hunt will only take place in the Ruins of Wyveria region.
Finally, report to your Palico at any Base Camp after you are done with the hunt. Purrfect Plunder will now be added to your Palico’s set of moves, and they will use it frequently during all future hunts. Completing this also ends this side mission line, and you have fully upgraded your Palico in Monster Hunter Wilds.
