In this guide, we shall go over how to ping in-game in Monster Hunter Wilds to make your multiplayer experience smoother.

Monster hunting is at the core of the Monster Hunter Wilds experience, and the game allows you to share this adrenaline-fueled experience with friends. Monster Hunter Wilds allows you to hunt monsters with friends, adding an extra layer of depth and strategy to the experience. One of the ways the game does so is with pings.
Pings in Monster Hunter Wilds are used to mark enemies and locations. This empowers you to communicate more effectively, adding a layer of enhanced coordination to the hunting experience. This is especially useful when the action kicks in, and there are multiple players running about and doing their own thing. Amid the chaos of all the monster-hunting action, the ping lets you focus and plan accordingly. Pings are also great when playing with players who do not use a microphone to communicate. You can simply ping the location you’re headed to or mark the monster you’re targeting to direct instructions to the player.
Pings in Monster Hunter Wilds are a great communication tool and one you must use if playing with other players. If you wish to ping but are unsure of how to ping in-game, we’re here to help. In this guide, we shall go over how to ping in-game in Monster Hunter Wilds.

Monster Hunter Wilds integrates its pinging system directly into the game itself. Think of it like how Dead Space has its navigation system as a part of the in-game lore. In Wilds, you have to rely on slinging Paint Pods as a means of using the ping system.
“Slinger ammo that makes a monster or location temporarily easier to find,” the Paint Pods ammunition description reads. To use this ammunition, you have to first equip the Paint Pods ammunition for your slinger. You can do so by using the quick slots on the bottom right corner of your screen. Equip the ammo and use your slinger to fire the Paint Pods ammo by pressing R2/RT. Whatever the Paint Pods land on, be it a monster or a location, will be marked temporarily, getting pinged for other players to see.
