Critical Hits are rare yet powerful hits that deal massive damage, much higher than the base damage. As stated earlier, you start out Monster Hunter Wilds with Affinity set to zero. This is a bit of a bummer, as Affinity can be a total game-changer during combat scenarios in the game. To increase your Affinity, you have to equip the right gear. Each piece of armor, weapon, charms, and decoration in the game comes with its own set of Affinities, which add onto yours and increase the stat. So it is imperative that you pick out the right gear, which will get your Affinity to the desired level.
While selecting your gear, be wary of weapons with negative Affinity. These are equipment that reduce your chances of critical hits, hampering your chances of winning in battle. You’ll know you’re being affected by negative affinity when the damage indicator has a blue cross underneath the damage numbers.
