FragPunk is coming to PC, Xbox, and PlayStation on March 6, 2025. However, there is slight confusion among fans about whether the game will be available on the Xbox Game Pass at launch. Well, we have good news for all players, no matter if they have a Game Pass subscription or not.

Developed by Bad Guitar Studio, a subsidiary of NetEase Games, FragPunk will come to current-gen consoles and PC. This means that PS4 and Xbox One players won’t be seen in action on the release date. However, one attractive feature of the upcoming FPS is that it will be free-to-play! To simply answer your query, FragPunk won’t be on the Xbox Game Pass at launch because it doesn’t belong there.

Xbox players will find the game for free on the Xbox Store, waiting for them to download it. However, they will require Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or Xbox Game Pass Core to play the game, as it is a multiplayer shooter. But what new concept is this game bringing to the FPS genre, and why should we be excited to play it?

Probably the majority of the gaming community will agree when we say that the most common concept for a multiplayer game is making it a “shooter.” Moreover, if it’s a first-person shooter, it tends to grab more attention. Is it the same with FragPunk? Well, it is an FPS hero shooter, something we have already seen in Paladins and Overwatch. However, there is an interesting twist—players will get to pick Shard Cards to enhance the gameplay experience.

According to the official page for FragPunk, the description suggests that each round in a match will last 2.5 minutes. This makes the game extremely fast-paced. The Shard Cards add an element of surprise as they bring new buffs and debuffs to the table for each round. There are cards that can amplify your jump height, reverse the roles of attackers and defenders, engulf your bullets in flame or turn them into chain lightning, and even resurrect you and your team.

There are some hilarious cards as well that can either make all heads big or small, making it easier or more difficult to land headshots, respectively. The best part? All cards are unlockable within the game to steer clear of pay-to-win mechanics.

The game will start on March 6 with 12 heroes on the roster, 17 guns, and a 5v5 mode. There are immersive and vibrant visuals to look forward to that will surely engage some players in the FPS community.
