Everything you need to know about loadouts in Monster Hunter Wilds, including how you can use the feature to save different builds and more.

Loadouts play a very crucial role in Monster Hunter Wilds’ build crafting and customization. As you progress through the game’s main story campaign or even the endgame, you will naturally end up crafting multiple builds, be it for different weapon types or the same weapon, albeit with different elemental properties.
However, swapping between the builds can often be quite a cumbersome process. This is especially true in the endgame, where you not only have to be mindful of the armor pieces and weapons but also multiple Decorations and skills. In addition to that, there’s also the Layered Armor, which can further complicate the build-crafting process.
However, to help with this issue, the game offers a rather robust “loadouts” system. Here’s everything you need to know about the loadouts in Monster Hunter Wilds and how to use them to save your builds.
What Are Loadouts in Monster Hunter Wilds?

Loadouts are essentially builds that you create and save within your equipment library. There are more than 100 loadout slots; as such, you’ll have plenty of space to save all your custom builds. Furthermore, the game also allows you to rename the loadouts. Giving a specific name to a loadout makes it significantly easier to switch based on the monster you’re hunting.
Loadouts are not that useful in Low Rank. However, once you reach High Rank and subsequently the endgame, loadouts become a necessity. This is especially true for players who like to experiment with different weapon types or elemental damage. You can essentially keep different elemental builds saved.
This gives you a ton of flexibility during the Event Quests as well as the regular endgame grind. Additionally, saving your loadouts helps you save a ton of time when tinkering with your builds. Once you reach the endgame, managing the Decorations and skills becomes incredibly tedious. This is where the loadouts come into play. Saving your builds lets you try out different Decoration combinations, and if you don’t like the new skills, you can easily revert back to your original build via the loadouts.
How To Save Your Build Using Loadouts?

There are two different ways to switch your build loadouts in Monster Hunter Wilds. You can change your loadouts at any of the Pop-up or Base Camp tents, or at the Smithy (Gemma). In the Pop-up Camp tent, simply navigate to the Equipments tab and select Change Equipment. This option allows you to inspect your current build and its components. However, if you press L3 or LS (on PlayStation or Xbox controllers, respectively), you can access the Loadouts menu. To save/register a new loadout, simply navigate to an empty cell in the Loadouts menu and press Triangle or Y. To rename a loadout, select the build from the menu, press Triangle/Y, and choose Rename.
Similarly, you can register and switch loadouts for the Palico from the Palico Equipment tab. At the Smithy, you can access the loadouts menu by pressing R1 or RB and selecting the Change Equipment option. You can also save Layered Armor loadouts. However, the Layered Armor options are only available via the Pop-up or Base Camp tents.
