While FromSoftware has achieved the highest highs with their boss fights in the Souls series, there are also some very low lows. Some of these fights are either disappointing, tedious, or just don’t hold up well compared to the great fights. So, we will rank the 5 worst Souls bosses in our list based on these factors.

1. Covetous Demon

Encountered in the Earthen Peak, the Covetous Demon is one of the worst boss fights in Dark Souls 2. The reason is that he has nothing going for him. His moveset is easy to deal with and is repetitive. Additionally, there are no phase transitions in this fight. It is possible to just strafe behind him and kill him fairly easily. Even though he can do a roll attack to counter this strategy, it is still not enough in the grand scheme of things, as it is easy to react to.

It goes without saying that a Mage build will automatically make this fight a non-issue.

2. Bed of Chaos

The infamous Bed of Chaos in Dark Souls 1 was a victim of rushed development and time constraints. As a result, we got what may be the worst boss in the entire series. There is nothing that actually challenges the player’s skill here, just pure luck that the game’s mechanics do not get in your way. After getting rid of the Bed of Chaos’ two weak points, the main challenge starts.

Players are required to jump onto the tree branch in front of the boss to progress further. The issue is that it is very easy to just fall to your death, leading to the frustration of many players.

3. Deacons of The Deep

Encountered in the Cathedral of The Deep in Dark Souls 3, this fight is entirely based on gimmicks. Players encounter a horde of deacons that fire spells and do slash attacks. The gimmick here is that one of those deacons is the boss, and killing it will decrease the boss’s health bar. Additionally, this deacon will be indicated by a crimson glow, and killing it will transfer the glow to another deacon.

Players are supposed to kill the glowing deacons over and over again until the health bar reaches zero.

4. Godskin Duo

The Godskin Apostle and Godskin Duo in Elden Ring are fantastic boss fights in their own right. However, they do not work if they are paired together. The reason is that they are almost impossible to kill solo, as finding an opening to counterattack is very difficult. They constantly barrage you with attacks, leaving no opening.

The only reliable strategy is either putting one of them to sleep or summoning the Mimic Tear to obliterate the duo with pure damage.

5. Rom The Vacuous Spider

Rom, The Vacuous Spider, is one of the worst fights in Bloodborne. The reason is that it has no engaging moveset and constantly disappears after players do a certain amount of damage. So, the entire fight boils down to avoiding its magic attacks, getting rid of the small spiders, and running after Rom. It goes without saying that this gameplay cycle gets redundant, which led to many fans criticizing this boss fight.
