The difficulty scaling in REPO ramps up crucial in-game mechanics, such as featuring powerful monsters and complex map layouts.

Since its early access release in February, REPO has taken Steam by storm, gaining a wide range of players each day. The 6-player co-op horror features physics-based mechanics and a proximity voice system, adding immersion. While the game can offer hilarious moments, it also becomes increasingly challenging as you progress through higher levels, scaling up the difficulty significantly. If you have wondered how the difficulty scaling mechanics work in REPO, this guide has you covered.

Difficulty Scaling in REPO Explained

The difficulty in REPO scales as you reach higher levels, much like many other games. Naturally, the higher levels require you to collect more money for taxes and feature more Extraction Points to clear. While you start with a single Extraction Point at the first level, it gradually increases in the subsequent levels, starting with two in Level 2.
Instead of simply increasing enemy numbers at higher levels, REPO introduces a stronger version of the existing monster alongside new monster types. Moreover, the environments and layouts become more dangerous and complex. With different enemy placements, the corridors become maze-like, requiring players to navigate carefully to locate valuables and safe spots while escaping from the various monsters.
The higher levels require you to rely more on tools and weapons, as well as proper team coordination. As you progress, the weapons and gear also become more expensive at the Service Station.
