With games like Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and Monster Hunter Wilds being released already, the rest of the year is also jam-packed. The list of games to be released in the Summer 2025 is quite long, and playing them all on release is next to impossible.

The following are the five games that we feel will have the greatest impact on the gaming landscape. However, keep in mind that this list is completely subjective. Moreover, we haven’t followed any particular order when making this list.

Death Stranding 2: On The Beach
Death Stranding 2: On The Beach is the sequel to the highly celebrated game, Death Stranding, which was released in 2019. It continues the story of Sam Bridges from the first game. If you were blown away by the world and the storytelling in the first game, you can expect much more of that in the sequel. It’s a Hideo Kojima game—mind-bending twists and gameplay mechanics are part of the experience.
However, the greatest hype from the 10-minute release date trailer of the game was due to a new character, Neil. The actor playing the part resembles Solid Snake (an all-time favorite character created by Kojima), and he even ties on a bandana at one point, eerily similar to Snake. We’ll have to wait and find out what role he plays in the overarching narrative.
Death Stranding 2: On The Beach releases on June 26, exclusively on the PS5.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater
Speaking of Snake, Konami’s remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, is also up for release in the Summer of 2025. Dubbed Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, this game will feature a complete overhaul of the visuals of the original title. Built using Unreal Engine 5, the game’s graphical changes mean more detailed vegetation, character models, lighting effects, and more.
However, Konami has already confirmed that it won’t add anything new to the story, making it a faithful adaptation of the original game released in 2004.
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is set for release on August 28, 2025. You can play it on PS5, Xbox Series S|X and PC.

Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition (for the Switch 2)
The next entry on our list of the top video game releases in Summer 2025 is not actually a new release. Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition is already available on PC, Xbox Series S|X, and PS5. However, this summer, the game will make its debut on the new Nintendo Switch 2 console.
Due to the powerful processor and greater memory on board, the new handheld gaming console will be able to run Cyberpunk 2077. This is a big feat considering how the high-quality visuals of Cyberpunk 2077 can put even mid-tier gaming PCs under quite a bit of strain.
We’ll have to wait and watch how Night City looks on the Switch 2 when this version of the game releases on June 5, 2025. Still, you can expect to use upscaling technology to get playable framerates in this title.
Mario Kart World
Mario Kart World is an upcoming kart racing game scheduled to release as a launch title for the Switch 2. You will have 40 playable characters at your disposal and race against up to 24 players at a time. As you play and progress further, you will unlock new cosmetics for your character.
The game features an open world, with free-roam modes, rail grinding, and more. You can start playing Mario Kart World on June 5, 2025, exclusively on the Nintendo Switch 2.
MindsEye
MindsEye is an upcoming third-person action game that’s being developed by Leslie Benzies and his company, Build A Rocket Boy. GTA fans might recognize the name, as Leslie was a long-time game producer for the Grand Theft Auto series. The trailer of MindsEye bears a striking resemblance to games in the GTA series, with a bit of sci-fi edge to it.
The narrative driven game seems to have an interesting story, although not much is known about the plot. The game is set to release on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S consoles, and PC on June 10, 2025.
