Known Issues in the First Closed Beta of Rematch

No game is perfect, and this goes even more for a game which is currently in closed beta. Identifying these issues in the beta is a great way to ensure that these wrinkles can be ironed out. These include:

  • Unbalanced Teams: Everyone likes a fair game. However, there is an ongoing issue where sometimes the matches start with one side having fewer members compared to the other. This is often seen in many other multiplayer games as well, because some players may not be able to join the lobby due to several reasons.
  • Remapping Unavailable: Presently, the game does not have any way to remap your controls. The developers have said that they are aiming for better remapping options at launch. For now, you can try using different preset controls and see what fits your style.
  • Camera Lock/Ball Cam: This feature is not present in the default input layout, and the developers are currently working on a way to better integrate this feature with the rest of the controls.
  • Mouse and Keyboard Settings: You should try and use a controller to play this closed beta. This is because keyboard controls are facing some bugs.

Lastly, other known issues include customization options being reset on game launch and players falling after performing certain actions. These will surely be improved over time.

Gameplay Changes Coming To Rematch After First Closed Beta

The developers are prioritizing fixing any bugs and glitches in the game first so that the final release is stable. At the same time, they have said that they will be monitoring player feedback to ensure that the game is fair and balanced. Here are the gameplay changes:

Goalkeeper Changes

The goalkeeper is the last line of defense for both sides. The developers wanted a higher level of interactivity between the attackers and goalkeepers.

  • The goalkeeper’s dive hitbox is now 5cm smaller
  • The goalkeeper’s dive assist angle around the input is also 10% smaller
  • The areas in which the dive deflects rather than catches are now 5cm larger

Moreover, various bugs which involved deflecting goalkeeper shots by using dives or dashes are not intended.

Sliding Tackles

What’s football without sliding tackles? This ability is extremely powerful and is used lots of times against the person possessing the ball. However, at the same time, this ability must still remain balanced, not to ruin the fun of the game.

  • Speed and overall range are slightly reduced
  • The entry speed from locomotion required to do a full-length tackle is now slightly higher
  • The recovery part of the sliding tackle brings the player to a short stop in their locomotion
  • The “tackle effect” hitbox lasts one frame less on the overall duration of the tackle
  • Cooldown for sliding tackle is now 150ms longer
  • Stamina cost for sliding tackle is now 10% higher

Dash and Dribbling

You will be able to use the defensive dash twice in quick succession now. However, you will notice that the second dash will have a shorter duration when compared to the first one.

Finally, the dribbling stance had an unintended protective effect. You would remain closer to the ball if you got tackled or stumbled. This has now been removed.

Additional Issues and Changes Announced at a Later Time

  • Account and Ranked progressions have been reset. Your account will start at level 5 instead of level 10, so you have to play a bit more before unlocking Ranked matches.
  • Your character customization has been reset.
  • There is a known issue where items obtained from the store or the Battle Pass might become unequipped when the game is restarted. This does not affect items unlocked by default.
