Dodge is the basic defensive technique in Clair Obscur Expedition 33, which is comparatively easier than Parrying. Dodging allows you to evade enemies’ attacks in a much safer way. It is a low-risk, low-rewarding technique.
However, if you timed it perfectly, it triggers a perfect Dodge, which requires the same timing window as the parrying. Both normal and perfect Dodge allow you to escape an attack with a quick maneuver. Practicing dodging also helps you to become familiar with the attack patterns of different enemies, making it easy when you transition to Parrying.

Parrying is way harder than Dodging, as it requires you to hit the button at the perfect moment, right before the attack lands on you. Failing to do so may result in getting hit.
