Crossplay is by far the most requested feature from the V Rising player base, but the developers have not implemented it… yet.
V Rising is an open-world ARPG combining survival crafting mechanics, vampire base building, and multiplayer elements. Stunlock Studios recently launched the game’s Invaders of Oakveil update, introducing the Serpent Queen boss, the Oakveil zone, and additional endgame content.
Although solo play in the game is rewarding in its own right, taking on the dangers of Vardoran with friends is a ton of fun. The game is available for both PC and PS5 players.
V Rising: Cross-Platform Play
Unfortunately, V Rising does not have cross-platform play at the moment. The developers have acknowledged the need to add the feature but have been prioritizing developing the game to its potential. This leaves PC players and PS5 players in separate lobbies when it comes to online play, with no options to team up with each other.
Will V Rising Have Crossplay?
However, the V Rising community has made its voice heard loud and clear when it comes to crossplay between PC and PS5. On the game’s feedback page and their official Discord, one of the top-voted features has consistently been cross-platform play. On both forums, demands for crossplay have garnered thousands of upvotes.
One of the reasons that the developers may not be responding to crossplay requests is to support fair play, since PC players can have a considerable advantage over their PS5 counterparts. But they do have the option of banning crossplay on the official servers while allowing it on community servers, where competitive fairness holds less importance among a group of friends.
The official feedback page of the game currently has crossplay as the highest-voted suggestion. Before the page was wiped of its data around the time of the update, the same suggestion had over a thousand votes.
Official Response
The V Rising player base has made their demand for Crossplay clear, but have the developers responded? Yes and no. There has been no official response to the widespread demand for crossplay on Stunlock Studios’ socials. Yet, they haven’t outright denied it either.
When asked in an interview about the possibility of crossplay in May 2024, a Stunlock Studios developer said that it was pretty unlikely at that time. At the same time, he reaffirmed the studio’s commitment to take the game to its highest potential on PC and PS5, saying that Sony had been a supportive partner in doing so. With the Oakveil update finally released, there is a good chance that Stunlock Studios will shift its focus to the longstanding player demand for crossplay.
