The Slormancer does not feature any multiplayer modes, but the developers have not ruled out the possibility of a co-op campaign.
The Slormancer is a chaotic 2D ARPG that follows the adventure of a few outlaws on a mission to take down the titular Slormancer, a warlock from the past. The game combines fast-paced gameplay with an extensive progression system for an engaging experience with each of its three classes.
Developed by the two-person team at Slormite Studios, The Slormancer takes inspiration from titles like Diablo and Path of Exile. While their hack-and-slash and RPG elements are certainly present, these old-school titles are also loved for their co-op features, which allow friends to band together and take on the variety of challenges thrown at them. With similar games featuring multiplayer modes, new players of The Slormancer are curious about the potential for a co-op campaign.
Does The Slormancer Have Co-Op?
Unfortunately, The Slormancer does not have a co-op campaign or a multiplayer mode. It is Slormite Studios’ first game, and the two developers behind it have been learning about video game development as they have worked on it.
The Slormancer was first released on early access in April 2021. The developers were bombarded with questions about possible features, including whether co-op would be available. At the time, they candidly confessed that they were afraid to try multiplayer owing to their lack of experience. However, the developers have assured players that they are aware of the popular demand for co-op.
Will The Slormancer Have Multiplayer?
While implementing multiplayer wasn’t possible in early access, with the game having a complete release on 13 May 2025, it is now on the table. During early access, the developers focused fully on completing and releasing the game. Now that the game has seen a full release, there is time to address popular demands from the fanbase. And co-op is by far the most popular demand of all.
To introduce co-op, the developers will likely have to expand their team. This may be done by hiring an expert who can create a multiplayer framework for the game. Balancing will likely be even more of a challenge since the developers did not design the game’s mechanics with more than one player in mind. This depends on the game’s success. Thankfully, the game has seen positive momentum.
It has a Very Positive review score on Steam, and its popularity is growing each day. As a result, even though it may be technically challenging to introduce multiplayer in The Slormancer, hope for it remains alive due to a growing community.
