If you want to try out the game, you might be curious about what the things you need to do to get started are. The game can be overwhelming, especially if you are new and have no idea where to begin. With that said, here is our ultimate starter guide for playing Palia.

Players have a lot of freedom when they start the game. This basically means you are free to experience the game how you want. However, it can also mean that you might not know where to start. Here is a starter guide where we talk about some tips and tricks for beginners in Palia:

Complete Starting Quests

Once you are in the game, you need to prioritize completing the starting quests as soon as possible. This allows you to unlock all the necessary tools and basic crafting recipes that you need.

While you are at it, interact with various NPCs in the world. Try and build relationships with them. One quest, titled Happy Housewarming, tasks you with giving five gifts to villagers. This is a good way to rack up some points and get closer to the game’s residents.

Help Townsfolk and Check Their Gift Preferences

Continuing from the first tip, you need to build a good relationship with the NPCs in Palia. Every townsfolk has their own favorite gifts. Learn which gifts they love and ask them about what they want to have for the week. This will quickly level up your relationship with them and unlock some new quests, get some gold, and other rewards.

Boost Your Focus Limit

Focus allows you to increase the efficiency of skill improvement. This is a must-have to quickly raise your skills and unlock more content in the game. Considering how you only have a limited amount of energy to do various activities in the game, you will need all the help you can get.

To increase your Focus, you must visit a Dragon Shrine and offer a prayer and Renown. For every 100 Renown Points you have, you will upgrade your focus bar. Additionally, you can increase the Focus bonus by visiting the Phoenix Shrine and offering another prayer and 100 Renown.

Get a Hang Glider

Exploration can be time-consuming, given how massive the map of Palia is. This is why you need all the tools you can get that can help in your adventure. One such tool is the Hang Glider. This item will allow you to glide down and avoid fall damage. It can be handy if you want to drop down from a mountain or ledge. 

You can unlock the Hang Glider by completing the Like a Bird quest from the main storyline. Considering how it’s part of the story, you can’t really miss this upgrade. This is why you need to progress through the story quest so you can unlock the necessary tools and upgrades and make your playthrough easier to manage. 

Use Seed Maker to Farm Crops

You can always purchase a wide variety of seeds from Zeki’s General Store. However, if you want to be extra efficient and save a bit of gold, you need to use a Seed Maker. This crafting machine will turn any crop into a seed, allowing you to regrow it.

You can get the crafting recipe for the Seed Maker from Badruu. Once you have the recipe, you should be able to build up to 30 machines on your farm. This is a very handy tool to have, especially in the early stages of the game, where you barely have any resources to use.

Know How To Spot a Fishing Hotspot

Fishing is one of the main gameplay mechanics of Palia. You can use your haul to cook good food or sell it for profit. You can start fishing with or without bait. However, using bait will greatly increase your chances of getting a bite. Your fishing rod also needs to be upgraded when available.

While you’re out fishing, keep an eye out for special spots where rare fish are more likely to appear. These hotspots look like small pools with splashing water and a fish leaping above them. With some luck, you might reel in a Star Quality fish, which can fetch a good price at the market.
