While the two games have a common basis in procedurally generated worlds and open-world exploration, Light No Fire seeks to provide an alternative experience. Let’s take a look at some ways in which Light No Fire can be a different experience from No Man’s Sky.
How Light No Fire Sets Itself Apart From No Man’s Sky
1. A Single Fantasy World
According to the developers, No Man’s Sky has a universe of more than 18 quintillion procedurally generated unique planets. This means you have a ton of planets to explore, which can be overwhelming at times. Light No Fire, on the other hand, settles on a single, Earth-sized world. You only need to focus on exploring one massive world.
Think of it as how Minecraft generates worlds. But for Light No Fire, it’s set in a fantasy setting. With that said, this feature allows players to have a different experience with every new playthrough. Alternatively, Hello Games also said that you can play alone if you want. So players who want to be alone and just enjoy a relaxing session will not miss out on the fun.
4. Potentially Better Survival and Crafting Mechanics
Building upon the survival aspects of No Man’s Sky, Light No Fire can offer more intricate survival mechanics. This includes resource gathering, crafting, and combat systems. Based on the trailer, players can engage in activities like combat and base building and experience dynamic weather conditions, adding depth to the gameplay.
For combat, we might get a bow, a sword, and even magic. You can’t possibly have a fantasy world setting without magic and enchantments. For survival, we could have fishing, farming, and maybe hunting.

Light No Fire can integrate role-playing game (RPG) elements more deeply than its predecessor. Players might expect character customization, quests, and a narrative-driven experience that enhances immersion.
