Tactical, third-person, co-operative, and action-shooter—the devs of Helldivers 2 describe the game in such a way. As you and your friends advance in the game as a team, you will cross paths with a horde of deadly enemies. Dealing damage to these enemies while evading a myriad of attacks (including friendly fire), you must be equipped with the right weapon and Stratagems to stand a chance.

In this article, we will discuss taking down the iron-clad Devastators, the medium-heavy mecha units of the Automatons.

The Devastators in Helldivers 2

There are three kinds of Devastators in the game. The following are their variations and ways to take them down:

Standard Devastator

This is the weakest among the three. The standard Devastator wields dual Laser Rifles and moves slowly towards you in battle. They are accurate, especially in mid to close range. However, with proper cover, they are not very difficult to take down. Be wary, they are armored. Hence, taking them down might pose a challenge.

The head and the crotch region are the weaknesses of these enemies. Be accurate with your shots. Additionally, use an apt weapon to take them down. We recommend the SG-225 Breaker or the RS-422 Railgun.

Heavy Devastator

As expected, this variation of the Devastators takes a little more effort to take down than the Standard Devastator. They wield a single Laser Rifle but carry a massive shield on the other arm. This shield effectively blocks all attacks from the front.

The weapon we suggest here is either the AC-8 Autocannon or the RS-422 Railgun. Here, accuracy is of the essence—shoot the head of the wretched foe to deal damage and make the enemy stagger in the process.

Once staggered, they will no longer hold the shield up, enabling you and your team to take it down. Shooting off the arm will make the Heavy Devastator lose its shield. The head and the crotch are the weak points here as well.

You can also flank the Heavy Devastator when a teammate is distracting it from the front. We do not recommend using Stratagems and grenades unless there is a horde of these enemies or you can damage stronger enemies along with them in one fine motion.

Rocket Devastator

Whether or not this variation is the deadliest among the three is up for debate. However, they will often catch you by surprise through long-range rocket barrages. Their accuracy varies—if you are mobile and constantly moving, their rockets are dodgeable since they are not heat-seeking.

On the other hand, these enemies are always watching and waiting for you to peek from your cover. A wrong timing would instantly see you meeting a rocket and losing all your HP.

The weak points on these enemies remain the same: the head and the crotch. You can also dismount their rocket cannons by shooting at them, rendering them inoperable.
