In The Phantom X, banners work the same way as they do in any other gacha game. You can spend a certain amount of in-game currency on the banners to get a number of randomized rewards, with a chance of getting the one you want. They are similar in essence to loot boxes.

There are multiple types of banners in the game, and the rewards you can get depend on the banner you are pulling on.

What Are the Different Banner Types in Persona 5 The Phantom X

There are three different types of banners in The Phantom X. These three are the featured banner, the standard/permanent banner and the weapon banner. There is also an additional beginner banner that is only available at the start of the game.

  • The featured banner, called the Random Spotlight Phantom Idol Contract, features a specific, limited character that you can only obtain from that banner. The character that is being featured will change periodically, after which a new character will be featured. Occasionally, there may even be multiple featured banners running concurrently.
  • The permanent banner, also called the Phantom Idol Contract, remains the same across updates. The characters and personas on this banner will always be available and can be obtained through the featured banner as well. When you pull on the featured banner, you can either get characters from the permanent banner, or the limited characters on the featured banner.
  • The weapon banner, called Arms Deal, is used to obtain weapons. This banner changes with the featured banner and spotlights the signature weapon for the featured limited character. It is also the source of most of the other weapons in the game.
  • Finally, there is also a Beginner’s Banner that is available at the start of the game. This banner has discounted costs, costing only 80% of what normal pulls do. This banner only lasts for 50 pulls. Additionally, you can select one of the standard 5-star characters to get them as a guarantee in this banner.

How To Pull on Banners

The different banners each require a different item to pull on them. The featured banner requires the use of Platinum Tickets. The weapon banner requires the use of Platinum Milicoins. The standard and beginner banners both require Gold Tickets.

Although the banners all require different items, the means of obtaining these items are the same. These are obtained with the use of Meta Jewels, the premium in-game currency. It costs 150 Meta Jewels to purchase one Platinum or Gold Ticket. However, it only costs 100 Meta Jewels to purchase one Platinum Milicoin.

Meta Jewels can be earned either by playing the game or through Cognitive Crystals, which are bought from in-app purchases.

What Is the Pity System in Persona 5: The Phantom X

As with many other gacha games, The Phantom X uses a pity system that guarantees high-tier rewards after a certain number of pulls. The different banners have different pity thresholds.

On the featured banner, you are guaranteed to get a 4-star every 10 pulls and a 5-star every 80 pulls. If you get a 4 or  5-star before the threshold, then the count will start again. Also, if you get a 5-star that is not the one being featured, then the next time you get a 5-star is guaranteed to be the featured character.

The permanent banner follows the same system. One 4-star every 10 pulls and one 5-star every 80. Of course, this is simply the bare minimum if your luck is quite poor.

The weapon banner has the same threshold for 4 stars – one guarantee every 10 pulls. However, it instead guarantees a 5-star weapon every 70 pulls. In addition, you can select three weapons on the weapon banner (including the featured weapon) as your ‘most wanted’. If you get a 5-star weapon that is not one of your ‘most wanted’, then the next 5-star is guaranteed to be one of the three.
