With Phoenix joining Marvel Rivals, let’s find out when she will be released in the game and be available as a playable hero on the roster.
Phoenix’s release has created a lot of buzz in the Marvel Rivals community. Players have been waiting for her to arrive on the roster ever since the leaks began. In Season 1, we got the Fantastic 4, while Season 2 introduced Emma Frost and Ultron.
Now, Jean Grey has been officially teased to arrive in Marvel Rivals Season 3 on July 11, 2025, UTC, once The Abyss Awakens goes live. After the server maintenance downtime, the new update will be live, along with Jean Grey on the roster.
Phoenix’s Release and New Content in Marvel Rivals
Phoenix will be a Duelist, as revealed by her gameplay trailer. She will be a hitscan character, but not your typical backline hero. Jean Grey’s kit is designed to let her flank the enemy backline. This is because she can get in and out of flanks easily and has a superior damage falloff. Additionally, Jean Grey can use her passive ability and detonate the phoenix markers on enemies to heal herself, increasing her survivability while damaging enemies.
Phoenix is also bringing new content with her release in Marvel Rivals Season 3. The devs gave us a deep look into all the changes in the Dev Vision Vol. 07. Some major changes that she brings with her on July 11 are the new map and team-up abilities.
The new map for Season 3 is the Klyntar: Celestial Husk. The map will be Domination, available in Quick Match, Competitive, Practice vs AI, and Custom modes. It will also expand on the story set up by the game for Season 3, The Abyss Awakens. There will also be new and adjusted team-ups. Jean will have a team-up where she gets a 10% Damage Boost and activates the team-up for Wolverine. The latter will activate the Phoenix Force with his Feral Leap, burning enemies and applying Lifesteal to his attacks.
