PEAK is a climbing survival game, and to survive, we must eat in real life. It is no different in Landfall’s 2025 title, as it features a Hunger mechanic that ties directly to the stamina bar and impacts it in various ways. To be more specific, when you or your teammate gets hungry in the game and does not consume any food, it will start to lower your maximum stamina, limiting your movement and climbing abilities. Here’s a comprehensive guide on how it works.

How Does Hunger Work in PEAK?

The Hunger mechanic in PEAK is pretty simple. Just like in our daily lives, if you do not eat food for a prolonged period of time, your hunger will start to rise. Furthermore, it will keep decreasing your maximum stamina to a point where climbing becomes impossible. Of course, this does not happen in an instant.

Instead, you will slowly start to lose your stamina a little by little while you get hungrier. If you think that such a mechanic is a hassle and will impact your fun co-op time with friends in a negative way, then we suggest selecting the Tenderfoot difficulty at the Airport kiosk before starting your playthrough. It reduces the stamina depletion rate.

Eat Food To Refill the Hunger Meter

It comes as no surprise that to cure your hunger and replenish the Hunger meter, you need to consume food. You can do so by either looting food items from containers and luggage scattered around the map or by gathering various natural foods from your surroundings.

For example, coconuts are a great choice to refill your hunger meter. During the early stages, you will find them quite often. Simply throw them against a rock to crack them open and enjoy your tropical snack. Alternatively, if you are not a huge fan of natural methods or cannot find a tree with coconuts to save your life, you can also rely on packaged food. These include items like Trail Mix, Granola Bars, and Airline Food. They work quite quickly and can also max out your stamina for a temporary period.

In addition to that, cooking your own food is also a great option and a necessary one, since you will often find yourself on unknown cliffs and ledges with nothing around you. However, to cook anywhere, you will need a portable stove. Keep in mind that cooking once will give you a 66% bonus, cooking twice will remove the bonus, and if you cook something three times, it will become burnt and poisonous.

Best Food Items To Look For

There are many food items in PEAK, and of course, not all of them are equally helpful. Some work better than others, and the following items, such as Coconut, Honeycomb, Granola Bar, and Cure-All are the best options and the most valuable ones according to us.

However, poisonous foods also exist in the game, including some berries and mushrooms. If you accidentally eat such an item and get the green screen effect while starting to lose stamina, you can use an Antidote or a Cure-All to fix it.
