Reaching an A rank rating in Umamusume: Pretty Derby completes several missions and unlocks several enticing rewards, including several hundred carats. After you complete a trainee’s career, their rating is calculated, ranging from G to SS rank. Completing your first few successful URA Finale wins usually results in obtaining a B rank.

This article will outline how the ranking rating is calculated and what you can do to achieve the A ranking, which seems to remain just out of reach.

Rank ratings in Umamusume: Pretty Derby solely rely on:

  • Stats
  • Skills

However, not all stat values and skills contribute equally to the rating. Here are the total ratings you need for higher ranks:

  • B: 6,500
  • B+: 8,200
  • A: 10,000
  • A+: 12,100

Stats

The more a stat increases in value, the greater its contribution to the rating. Each additional point contributes more than the previous one, making stat growth slightly exponential rather than linear. Meaning, having 1000 Speed will provide a far greater rating boost than 500 Power and 500 Stamina combined.

How Stats Translate Into Rating

Though the underlying formula for stat-to-rating conversion is complex, the results are easier to interpret.

Stat ValueRating Rating Gain
300352N/A
400577+225
500847+270
6001143+296
7001463+320
8001808+345
9002209+401
10002653+444
11003171+518
12003841+670

How To Maximize Rank Rating With Stats

The best way to optimize your build for a high rank rating is to focus on leveling up two stats as much as possible. Ideally, focus on Speed and Wit. Speed will win you races, and Wit training increases Speed marginally while replenishing energy and providing SP (Skill Points). Your support card loadout should be:

  • 4 Speed
  • 2 Wit

You will have to rely on stamina-replenishing (blue) skills to help your trainee reach the finish line at top speed. By the end of the career, you should have 1000+ Speed and 700+ Wit. This is the easiest to accomplish with Front Runners, as Speed and Wit and their main stats.

Skills

While winning additional races does not count toward increasing your rating, the SP you gain from them makes a significant difference. Participate in G1 races as they provide the highest SP among optional races. Invest SP into normal skills with a base cost at or above 100. Keep in mind that the base value excludes the discount provided by skill hints

  • Skills at or above 100 SP base cost provide a +239 rank rating.
  • Skills below 100 SP base cost provide a +129 rank rating.

Learn several normal skills with a base value equal to or greater than 100 to efficiently boost rank rating. There are several skill types that are inefficient in generating ratings. As such, do not invest in:

  • Rare (Gold-bordered) skills
  • Debuff (Red) skills
  • Skills below 100 base SP
  • Skills with a base cost of 110 and 140 SP.

Note: Reaching A Rank by inflating ratings is best done for completing missions. It is unlikely to produce a top-tier uma for PvP or events.
