Donkey Kong Banaza, after its much-awaited announcement, finally hits the shelves. The game is filled with unique game mechanics, making it not feel like a monotonous task and keeping it fresh. The first official boss you get to engage in battle with is Peekabruiser. This is a giant octopus causing terror with its little octopus minions.
In this article, we will look at how to beat Peekabruiser in Donkey Kong Bananza.
Peekabruiser Boss Fight in Donkey Kong Bananza
The mission starts with a brief conversation between the president of the Void company, Void King, and Pauline. This is where he begins to explain his grand scheme of plans, which involves an extraction venture at the Planet’s Core. After a brief cutscene, with the press of a button, the king then summons Peekabruiser, who is a square-shaped octopus.
There are no extra mission requirements except defeating Peekabruiser. The mission is straightforward, with just two boss rounds and predictable attack patterns. The only extra hurdle you will face is the armor the boss wears. This is a stone armor that you can break in two ways. The first is by getting in a close proximity and punching the armor. The second would involve you tearing off pieces with the grab button and hurling those pieces at the boss.
Round 1
Activating Donkey Kong’s Kong Bananza transformation would increase the damage dealt and make your life easier. The first round will primarily consist of charge attacks, where the octopus will rush towards the player in a straight line. During this round, the little octopus enemies will also latch themselves onto you, draining your health, which you will need to shake off.
If your health drains, you can look for glowing spots that will be scattered across the ground. Approach these spots and click the prompted button to punch the ground and collect apples. There are also chances of your retrieving gold to help prolong the duration of your transformation.
Round 2
The moment the Peekabruiser health drops down to around 20%, round 2 will trigger. The little octopus will surround it while it creates a small, towering hill. During this phase, the octopus will get more erratic and jump at you from all around. You will have to push your way through them, reach the top, and inflict damage on the Peekabruiser. Avoid the train of octopus and climb from an area where there are fewer enemies.
If you do this quickly, the round will end relatively fast. If, however, you are too slow with it, the boss will recover some health, forcing you to replay the previous round again. This will repeat till you successfully manage to climb the hill and defeat the boss.
After defeating the boss, you will be able to collect a lot of Banandium Gems around the area. A crater will open up, revealing the path to the next layer.
