Stronghold Crusader has finally been re-released with a Definitive Edition, which adds many new units and upgrades the visuals for a much better gameplay experience. To acquire the new units, you first have to build the Bedouin Stockade. All the units that you can train are inspired by the culture of the Bedouin race, a group of nomadic people who used to live in the Middle Eastern deserts.

The Bedouins regularly raided non-Bedouin settlements, which gave them a fearful reputation. Additionally, many warring groups used to hire them as allies, a fact that FireFly Studios implemented in the game as well. To help you out, here’s a list of all the new units released in the Stronghold Definitive Edition.

There are a total of eight new units that you can train to use in battles. Here are all of them:

1. The Skirmisher

These are the most basic offensive units you can train using the Bedouin Stockade. They are very cheap but also have low armor and medium health. Skirmishers have access to two weapons, one curved sword for close range and a throwing javelin for long range. These units excel in the early game if you have good positioning that allows them to properly use their javelins against other early-game units.

2. The Sapper

Unlike Skirmishers, the Sappers are strategic units. They specialize in bringing down walls and structures using their tools. Despite not having any offensive capabilities, a few well-placed Sappers can create game-changing routes that lead to the heart of enemy settlements.

3. The Camel Lancer

In the past, Camels were an important part of the Bedouin people, both for transportation and warfare. The Camel Lancers have the same speed as a cavalry unit, but with increased defense. They are the perfect units to poke at your enemies to keep them busy during the early stages of the game.

These are more costly yet powerful versions of the basic Camel Lancer. Not only do these units boast higher health and defense, but they also have a much higher cost. The Heavy Camel unit allows you to use both close-range and long-range damage due to having two humans mounted at the same time.

5. The Demolisher

Demolishers wield a large shield and hammer that can cause plenty of destruction in the enemy ranks. Moreover, these units are immune to any type of pitfall and spike tracks that are on the land. This immunity to traps makes them the perfect unit to be on the frontlines when raiding an enemy base.

6. The Eunuch

These are going to be your main damage-dealing units during any type of raid. These slow and large men carry two scimitars, which they use to deal high amounts of damage in a large area. Do note that the cost of these units is really high, so you won’t be able to have a lot of them at once unless you have a strong economy.

7. The Healer

Healers are very basic units and do exactly what their name says: heal other units. They are costly to make and have low health and defense. Each Healer individually heals others and moves on to other units only when the health of someone is full. You are going to need multiple Healers in case you wish to keep your army healthy during the raid. Just make sure that your Healers are protected by defensive units at all times.

8. The Ambusher

Ambushers are very technical characters that need precise planning to be of proper use. These units are invisible to others unless the enemy gets too close. Therefore, they are perfect for creating ambushes. The main weapon of Ambushers is firepots, which they throw to light enemies on fire. While being able to do tons of damage in a short time, bad placement can cause them to get revealed and perish just as quickly.

These are all the new units added to Stronghold Crusader Definitive Edition.
