The Devil’s Run Exotic sidearm was not getting much attention in Destiny 2. A rework was introduced with the latest expansion, The Edge of Fate, but many dedicated fans have been expressing their concerns. However, it actually has its benefits and is a good weapon to use in the Destiny 2 expansion.

In this article, we will discuss the Devil’s Ruin Exotic rework in Destiny 2.

Previously, the sidearm’s exotic perk, Pyro Genesis, was activated by holding down the fire button and shooting a high-powered laser on release. The beam could stun unstoppable champions while dealing 15 ticks of damage at a 1.6 time precision multiplier.

In the Edge of Fate, this hold-fire laser was changed to an Alt-fire mode. This mode is procked by picking up a Fire Sprite and then holding the reload button.

This might be an additional step, but it is absolutely worth it. After picking up a Fire Sprite, you’ll see on the bottom left of your screen that pyroenesis is available. Then, upon reloading, you’ll proc the laser, and Pyroenesis will be ready. Your laser shot is now ready. Additionally, this can be stowed, i.e., you will not lose the charge if you do not use the shot right away.

However, once you have loaded the shot, you cannot go back to normal mode without releasing this shot, i.e., it cannot be ‘unloaded.’

On top of the precision multiplier and unstoppable stunning capabilities, the laser shot inflicts Scorch on hits. Additionally, if you score a kill with the laser shot, it will trigger an Ignition. This makes Devil’s Ruin a wonderful sidearm in confined areas featuring multiple hostile units.

How Does Firesprite Work?

Devil’s Ruin will spawn Firesprites on kill in its normal firing mode. So, score a kill in regular mode, pick up the Firesprite, and then unleash the laser shot on a group of unfortunate foes. Moreover, firing in the Alt-fire mode does not affect the ammunition of the base side arm, i.e., the normal mode ammo.

Additionally, you can also make Firesprites from Solar Fragments. However, the Firesprites gained from killing with Devil’s Ruin in normal mode are enough in most cases.
