This deck includes three main Pokemon. Magnezone becomes the heavy hitter for this team, while Raikou and Oricorio can attack or stall depending on the situation. Running Oricorio in a pure Lightning deck is a great idea due to how many decks it can counter.
Apart from this, the main focus, Raikou can damage the Benched Pokemon, making them susceptible to a Cyrus as well. Otherwise, if they retreat at low HP, Raikou has the potential to knock them out altogether.

Ideally, you want to start with Raikou, Oricorio, and Magnemite. One X Speed is also a good choice as it can allow you to switch out without wasting too much energy. Place Raikou or Oricorio in the Active Spot depending on what you think the opponent is playing. Meanwhile, you can build energy on Magnemite over time. Once Magnezone is ready, it can come to the Active zone and win you the match.

This guide is very basic in how it functions:
- Oricorio counters any ex Pokemon they might be using.
- Raikou can attack quickly, for 60 damage, and also damage their bench. Subsequently, you can use Cyrus to pull their Benched Pokemon out and knock it out.

- Trying to open with Raikou ex is a good idea, as you can use its Ability to draw an extra card.

Raikou’s damage output is quite low (60 to one Pokemon, or 70 in total). This is not enough to win matches, especially with a low 130 HP. Therefore, Raikou needs an attacker like Magnezone on the team.
Why do you run Oricorio with Raikou ex?
Oricorio is just one of the best cards to run in general. It can counter any ex Pokemon, which are very prevalent in the current ranked pool.
