Fans wanted many new features in NBA 2K26. While they did get some of them, others slipped away from their grasp. Here are five of them.

NBA 2K26 is the latest installment in 2K’s basketball video game franchise, and naturally, it comes with many new elements and improvements from its predecessor, such as better AI, visuals, and the addition of the WNBA. However, despite these upgrades, the developers also missed many features that fans wanted in the game due to the franchise’s yearly release schedule and other limitations. In this article, we will discuss some of the most requested features for NBA 2K26 that fans unfortunately did not get.
5 Features Fans Wanted in NBA 2K26 but Did Not Get
Most sports games follow a yearly release formula, and 2K’s NBA IP is no exception. The schedule of releasing a new title every year keeps things fresh with new team kits, roster changes, and some gameplay improvements. However, the tight timeframe for development also leaves many things on the table. Some of these include the option to respec, crossplay for PC, and vault items across multiple entries, among others.
1. Reconnect After Being Disconnected

NBA 2K26 features many game modes, both online and offline. For PVP modes, connection issues can occur due to server shortcomings or poor internet connectivity. Many players often get disconnected from their matches because of these problems, which the game counts as a loss. As a result, gamers have asked for an option to reconnect or rejoin disconnected matches, which NBA 2K26 does not currently feature.
2. A Dedicated Option to Foul Bait

Foul bait, also known as the action of forcing a foul from a defender either by provocation or exaggeration, is a well-known tactic in basketball. However, despite being a staple of realism in sports gaming, 2K’s NBA titles, including NBA 2K26, still do not feature a dedicated in-game option to foul bait. Fans have requested such an ability for a while, and adding it would only bring another dynamic to gameplay and improve realism.

3. Option to Respec

The option to respec attribute points is a great way to change or modify your build mid-career. However, NBA 2K26 does not include such a feature yet. Since leveling up your player in an NBA game can sometimes be expensive, fans have asked for the freedom to respec their hard-earned points, as seen in many modern RPGs.
It is still unlikely that 2K will add such an option in the near future, with possible reasons being a break in realism and the simulation-heavy approach of the games. However, the Rebirth option can be a good alternative.
4. Crossplay Across All Platforms

Does NBA 2K26 feature crossplay? Yes, it does. However, it is currently limited to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S players. This leaves out players on other platforms, such as PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch/Switch 2. This creates a divide between gamers who want to play with friends but are on different systems. Naturally, fans of the franchise would prefer to see this restriction removed.

5. 2K Item Vault

Since NBA 2K14, players have been receiving numerous in-game items in MyCareer mode, particularly clothing and other accessories. However, all items or rewards in the MyCareer mode are limited to their respective installments and do not carry over. This creates an issue of buying or acquiring the same or similar cosmetics and items multiple times for each new entry.
Many casual players, who cannot dedicate days to the games, have requested a vault in NBA titles that would allow them to access previously owned items across installments. Unfortunately, fans did not get such an option in NBA 2K26.
