What Is Purgatory in Type Soul?
Purgatory refers to a special location in the game. Once you reach it, you can’t simply leave. Instead, you will have to get through a challenging battle to be able to return to the normal game world.
Reaching Purgatory
You’ll automatically reach Purgatory if another player manages to defeat and kill you in Hell before you can take down another NPC. In some cases, players have reported that they didn’t teleport to the location after their first defeat at the hands of other players. Instead, for them, it happened when they were killed a second time around by other players.
When you do reach Purgatory, prepare for a tough battle with your clones. If you fail to beat them, you’ll have to fight off more of the clones when retrying. This vicious cycle continues until you are able to take down all of your clones in this special location. Keep in mind that these clones can perform all of the moves and abilities that you can. While that can put you on the back foot, it also means you will be able to easily predict what kind of attacks are about to occur.
How To Escape Purgatory
As you might have guessed by now, you can escape from Purgatory only after the battle with your clones is over. The fight is easier if you can manage to complete it in a couple of tries. However, if you fail too many times, you’ll need to face off against increasingly more clones of yourself. In some cases, you might have no option but to wipe. We obviously do not recommend this extreme option. Instead, try to predict the move of your clones and take evasive maneuvers before their attacks can land.
Avoiding Purgatory
With PvP enabled, AFKing becomes extremely risky due to the Purgatory system. An opposing player can simply walk up to you and defeat you at any time during the AFK status, sending you to Purgatory. However, there’s one easy way to ensure this doesn’t happen. Make sure you kill at least one NPC in Hell before going AFK. Doing so means regardless of other enemy attacks, their killing you won’t send you to the Purgatory location.
