What is the Best Deck in Pokemon TCG
The best decks rated S tier in 2024 are Lugia VSTAR, Regidrago VSTAR, Raging Bolt ex, and Dragapult ex. Lugia VSTAR is able to power up dominate going first or second, by discarding and powering up basic pokemon. With the ability to power up basic Pokemon who can get a 300 HP knockout, it’s hard to beat this deck when played right. Regidrago VSTAR is exceptional at 4 prize card knockouts but depends on discards to make it work. Raging Bolt ex can do powerful knockouts but can struggle against stall decks. Lastly, Dragapult ex can do great against multiple decks and even get 6 prize cards in one turn!
S-Tier
The most dominant decks in the Pokemon TCG meta are Lugia VSTAR and Regidrago VSTAR. Lugia VSTAR discards Archeops and then powers up their attackers like Lugia VSTAR or Bloodmoon Ursaluna ex. However, the real strength comes from Cinccino, which does 70x damage for every special energy attached. Thus, you end up with a deck capable of 300+ HP knockouts, and you catch the enemy in a loop where they cannot keep pace with knockouts.
The Regidrago VSTAR deck also discards cards, but in order to fill their discard with Pokemon attack cards like Dragapult, ex. Once filled, Regidrago can play a stall strategy with Noivern, or damage with Girantina and Dragapult. The versatility is incredible, and on the last turn, throw down a Radiant Charizard for an easy knockout.
The other two S-Tier decks are Raging Bolt ex and Dragapult ex. Raging Bolt is the simplest S-Tier deck, which is mainly about filling up your bench, discarding energy, and attaching with a supporter to power up Raging Bolt ex. However, the deck can struggle with one prize card deck. Similarly, Dragapult ex can be powerful but is turn one dependent.

A-Tier
The current top A Tier decks are Charizard ex and Snorlax Stall. Charizard ex is well-known, simple, easy to play, and effective against most decks. However, it can struggle if you go second on turn one or have an enemy that knocks out cards early, eliminating evolution possibilities. Snorlax Stall simply stops retreating from the opponent which can destroy most decks. However, Snorlax can struggle against Roaring Moon ex which can place a card in the active position every turn.
The Terapagos ex deck is the simplest and most effective in this current meta. Expand your bench, fill it up, and attack with Terapagos ex. The deck is dependent on a lot of energy but a stadium card for optimal damage. While simple, the deck can stall against another heavy stadium deck like Roaring Moon ex.
The Roaring Moon ex currently has multiple ways to play it, and most revolve around heavy discard on turn one. By turn two, this deck will either dominate or likely lose.

B-Tier
The B-Tier decks on this list have all seen their day as the meta deck including Giratina VSTAR and Palkia VSTAR. The Lost Box/Zone strategy has fallen out of favor because other decks are easier to power up faster and have knockout power with basic one-prize card Pokemon. However, Palika VSTAR is the best of the B-Tier decks because of the Dusknoir combination. Palkia can struggle to complete big knockouts and is dependent on this combo for 300+ HP Pokemon.
Roaring Moon (non-ex) is a strong choice in B-TIer, discarding heavily with basic Pokemon. The deck struggles at the start then roars back as your discard fills up and damage increases. Essentially yoou’re racing to discard and then not run out of cards at the end.

C-Tier
The C-Tier decks on this list are somewhat effective but excellent for beginners. Chien-Pao and Baxcalibur deck is the simplest setup and is effective against electric-type decks. However, like all C-tier decks, the power fades because of knockout potential and difficulties with enemies attacking your bench. Future Iron Hands is a great deck when playing against one prize card basic pokemon decks at lower ranks in the TCG online card game. Most of these decks use simple cards; getting two-prize cards rather than one is helpful when starting out.
Another benefit of these decks is they are cheap to create if playing in real life. Arceus VSTAR is one of the most simple meta decks, and is a go-to for new players who don’t need anything complex or struggle to consistently power up your decks.

D-Tier
These D-tier decks have fallen out of the meta and are likely to be avoided. Many of the decks that used Path to the Peak, Escape Rope, and Battle Pass VIP were nerfed into oblivion when those cards were removed from standard edition.
