With Dragon Ball Sparking Zero making so much noise in the gaming scene, players are excited to jump in and play as their favorite characters from the franchise. Much like previous entries in the Budokai Tenkaichi series, the game offers fast-paced combat that allows you to live out your power fantasy as an anime character. However, many have been left wondering about the various multiplayer aspects of Dragon Ball Sparking Zero.

Does Dragon Ball Sparking Zero Have Local Co-op?
For fans of the classic couch co-op experience, there is good news. Sparking Zero lets you and a friend engage in exciting battles while sitting next to each other. This means you don’t have to worry about only playing on a network connection with your friends.
However, there are certain limitations to the local co-op experience. The local multiplayer gameplay is exclusive to the Hyperbolic Time Chamber stage. This means you don’t have a choice in where you and your friend want to duke it out. While this can be frustrating, it doesn’t seem like that big of an issue when battling against a friendly enemy for fun.
How Many Characters Are Available in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero Multiplayer?
The game certainly packs a punch when it comes to the characters, which is sure to please fans of the beloved anime franchise. At the time of writing, Sparking Zero features a staggering total of 182 characters that you can choose from. However, one of these characters is exclusive to players with the pre-order version of the game. As such, the base game features 181 characters.
That’s not all though as Bandai Namco has confirmed that Sparking Zero will feature at least one Season Pass. The Pass will reportedly bring in 20+ playable characters across three different DLCs. This brings the total number of characters to upward of 200.
Does Dragon Ball Sparking Zero Have Crossplay?
Unfortunately, Dragon Ball Sparking Zero does not feature crossplay capabilities. This means you won’t be able to play with your friends online if they play the title on a different platform. PlayStation players can only play with others on this console, and the same applies to Xbox players. The game’s producer Jin Furutani has expressed how the implementation of crossplay has been a challenging aspect during development. This means there’s a chance this functionality never makes its way into the game, even down the line.
