Jujutsu Kaisen is one of the most popular animanga series of the modern generation. Following the anime’s official release in 2020, the popularity of Gege Akutami’s magnum opus skyrocketed due to its animation quality, storytelling, action sequences, and captivating characters. While the Jujutsu Kaisen manga concluded on September 30, 2024, the anime was announced to receive a third season.

As such, Jujutsu Kaisen arcs have become a common topic of discussion among fans. MAPPA Studios has only four more story arcs left to adapt in the anime, which will completely wrap up the entire story. Here is a detailed list of all the Jujutsu Kaisen arcs that new fans need to know.

Which Are the Longest and Shortest Jujustu Kaisen Arcs

If the prequel series is considered, then the Cursed Child arc from Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is the shortest in the entirety of the series. As for the main series, Itadori’s Extermination arc is the shortest section of the story. It occurs directly after the Shibuya Incident arc and consists of seven chapters. This arc will be the first to be adapted in Jujutsu Kaisen season 3. Given its length, it will likely be covered within the first 2-3 episodes.

The Culling Game arc is the longest in the series, with 63 chapters. Due to its length, this arc seems unlikely to be adapted completely in the upcoming season 3. Another reason for this uncertainty is that MAPPA Studios will have to animate two other arcs before the Culling Game arc: Itadori’s Extermination arc and Perfect Preparation arc.

How Many Jujustu Kaisen Arcs Are Left To Be Animated?

Until now, MAPPA Studios has animated 7 out of 11 story arcs from the manga. The Cursed Child arc was adapted into a full-length movie that serves as a prequel to the main series. Season 1 of the anime covered four arcs from the manga — the Fearsome Womb arc, Vs. Mahito arc, Kyoto Goodwill Event arc, and the Death Painting arc. Meanwhile, season 2 covered two arcs — Gojo’s Past arc and the Shibuya Incident arc.

This leaves four Jujutsu Kaisen arcs that are yet to be animated by MAPPA Studios. This includes Itadori’s Extermination arc and Perfect Preparation arc, which will be adapted at the beginning of season 3. However, it’s unlikely that the entirety of the Culling Game arc will be adapted in the upcoming season. While it is only a speculation as of now, it is a common belief that the Culling Game arc will be divided into two halves — with the first half being adapted after the two aforementioned arcs and the second half being adapted along with the Shinjuku Showdown arc in a potential season 4.

The Most and the Least Loved Jujutsu Kaisen Arcs

It is difficult to narrow down the most and least favorite Jujutsu Kaisen arcs, especially since the fanbase has numerous opinions. Most fans agree that the Shibuya Incident arc is Jujutsu Kaisen‘s finest work. Others have nominated Gojo’s Past arc and the beginning of the Shinjuku Showdown arc as their favorites. Some even claimed that the Kyoto Goodwill Event arc stands out for them.

Based on discussions on forums like Reddit, several fans nominated the Perfect Preparation arc as their least favorite. This arc wasn’t particularly long and was mostly focused on Maki’s awakening. On the other hand, some even voted the Fearsome Womb and Death Painting arcs as their least favorites. According to them, these arcs were basic and forgettable compared to the other arcs of the series.

Jujutsu Kaisen stands above the rest when it comes to the most popular shonen series of the past few years. Although the manga has ended, fans can still look forward to the anime’s third season, which may be released within the next few years.
