Ray, known on Twitch as rayasianboy, has become a familiar face to the fans of the Any Means Possible (AMP) group. He often appears on broadcasts alongside its members, specially Kai Cenat. Despite Ray being 18 years old, four years younger than 22 year-old Kai Cenat, the two share a close bond that is visible during their collaborative livestreams.

Ray and Kai Cenat became friends during the latter’s visit to Japan in 2023, where he was holding an IRL stream. Ray, a Taiwan native, met with the streamer and introduced himself as his fan. They took a photograph together, and the rest was history. Soon after, Ray began streaming on Twitch, where he now has 1.1 million followers.

Recently, Ray had to return to his home country of Taiwan to partake in active duty military service for a year. This is an obligation that all Taiwanese citizens are required to fulfill. Thus, he cannot visit Cenat in the United States until he has completed this service and must remain in Taiwan till then. On August 25, 2024, Kai Cenat uploaded a video on Snapchat, in which he bid farewell to Ray right before he left.

When Ray Talked About The Implications of Using the “N-Word”

During a broadcast in September 2024, Ray discussed the possible consequences of a streamer accidentally using the racially charged “N-Word” during a broadcast. Ray claimed that uttering it could end one’s career. Further, he went on to say that avoiding the usage of the term, while being around streamers of Black ethnicity, was the “hardest part of all time.”

He said:

“Imagine saying the N-word, and your whole career’s gone, bro. Being a streamer, this is the hard part bro. If you’re not black, bro, this is the hardest part of all time… Bro, on God, bro. Being streamer, being an Asian streamer, being beside Black streamers, bro, its so hard to not just say the N-word, bro.”

Ray also pointed out the permanence of actions deliberately or inadvertently performed during a livestream as compared to a YouTube video. He stated that while a video could be edited to remove undesirable remarks, the same could not be done during a live broadcast, and would remain on the internet forever. In the context of accidentally uttering the “N-Word,” as per Ray, it could cause trouble for a livestreamer:

“It’s a livestream! You cannot delete. You cannot edit. You feel me? It’s so hard to do that, bro.”

A few days after Ray made his remarks on the usage of the “N-word”, he revealed that Kai Cenat had contacted him directly to not use the word. AMP member Din “Agent 00” also defended Ray in his broadcast. On behalf of Ray, Agent 00 clarified that the former’s remarks were not borne out of a want to say the “N-word” himself, but rather were just a statement on how using the word as a non-Black content creator was a “cancelable” offense.
