Popular Twitch streamer and former OTK (One True King) member Zack “Asmongold” has received flak recently after making some contentious comments targeting the people of Gaza. This garnered a lot of backlash, leading to his alternative Twitch channel (Zackrawrr) being banned. Moreover, OTK, the gaming/content creation organization he co-founded, decided to part ways with the streamer following the controversy. After this, Zack came forward to explain that he would fix his life, beginning with the cleaning of his house/room.

The streamer is infamously known for living in a rather unkempt and neglected space (this included instances of bugs and roaches crawling across his set-up). After the recent controversy, the 34-year-old promised to mend his ways. Now, it seems like he has made some progress in this regard. Over the past few days, he has shared a couple of ‘before-and-after’ comparison images of the cleaning of his house.

The first post included a picture of his previously dirty sink filled with unwashed utensils and cutlery. It’s sparkling clean now.

The former OTK member put out another update on October 22, 2024. In the past, his streaming room was infamously littered with boxes and parcels. That seems to have changed as well:

What Led to the Asmongold Controversy?

While the streamer is known for being upfront, this time, many saw his approach as going a bit too far. During a stream on October 13, 2024, he controversially labeled people in Gaza as being of an “inferior culture” He said:

“”These people are not your allies, they are not the same as us. They come from an inferior culture that is horrible. It kills people for their identity, is directly antithetical to everything Western values stand for, and is an inferior culture in all ways. It is that simple. No! I don’t feel bad for them. I don’t feel sorry for them. I don’t care! I don’t support them. It’s that simple.”

Following these statements, the streamer faced heavy criticism. A day later, Twitch suspended his alternative account, Zackrawrr. That said, his main account, Asmongold (3.5 million followers), remains active on the platform.

The streamer later revealed that he had a discussion with the OTK board members and decided to step away from the company and its subsidiaries:

“I’m going to take a step back from all of that. I’m going to step away from my leadership position and otk and StarForge and everything. I want to and they’re fine with with that, they respect that and I want to do this.”

Asmongold also offered an apology following his contentious remarks, stating:

“Looking back on it, I was way too much of an a**hole about the Palestine thing. My bad. Of course, no one deserves to have their life destroyed even if they do things or have views I find regressive. You guys deserve more than me saying stupid sh*t like that, I’ll do better”
