If you are avid lover of animals, you will be happy to know that The Sims 4 allows you to adopt pets and add them to your household. You can play with them, take care of them, and establish a lifelong bond. There are several ways in which you can adopt a pet in The Sims 4. In this article, we have provided a detailed overview.
Different Ways to Adopt Pets in The Sims 4
Buy the necessary things from Pet Care to prepare your home before welcoming the animal. You can create a pet, adopt one using a phone/computer, or adopt a stray animals.
Creating a Pet
Yes, you can create a pet of your choice. Here’s how:
- Select the “Add a Sim” icon at the bottom left corner of the screen.
- Choose the “Add Pet” option.
You can customize their physical attributes and even create mixed breeds.
Adopting Using Phone/Computer
In The Sims 4, you can reach out to an adoption agency using a phone or a computer.
- Phone: Home > Call Adoption Agency > Adopt Cat/Dog
- Computer: Household > Adopt > Adopt Cat/Dog
You will get a menu that shows the available cats and dogs along with all their details, such as age, breed, gender, and neutered status. If you are not okay with the available list of cats or dogs, you can restart the process to get a new list of pets. You can choose up to three pets at once. The idea is that you can spend time with them before you make your choice. Click Confirm and the adoption agency will deliver your chosen pets.
Once the pets are at your home, click on the one you want and choose the Adopt option. Each animal you adopt will cost 200 Simoleons
Adopting a Stray Pet
It is also possible to adopt a stray pet from your neighborhood in The Sims 4. These wander in the neighborhood and will have “Stray” on their nameplate. Approach them and increase your bond by interacting with friendly gestures. Eventually, you will get the option to Offer Friendship. Once you and the animal become friends, you can then adopt them and bring them to your home.
You can also adopt the ghost pets that wander around the cemetery on Deadgrass Island at midnight. Become friendly with them and then click on the Invite To Household option to add the pet to your household. If you want to bring them back to life, you also have that option. Give them the Ambrosia Pet Treat, which you can buy from a pet hospital for 2,500 Simoleons.
