The Attachments mechanic is not new to the STALKER series as it has been a part of the previous games. All of the major weapon types like Pistols, SMGs, Assault Rifles, Sniper Rifles, etc. have four different attachment slots where you can attach various attachments. Each attachment can modify your weapon and enhance its capability. For instance, if you wish to be silent and take out the enemies without raising suspicion of your presence, you can use a Silencer Attachment.

However, not all attachments can be attached to any weapon as each attachment is for certain weapons only. Moreover, as you progress in the main story, you will come across various weapons on which you cannot apply attachments until you get a rail upgrade for the weapon. What is the purpose of Attachments in STALKER 2 Heart of Chornobyl?
