Rodent Stalker 2

Here are all the mutants you can find explained in Stalker 2 Heart of Chornobyl.

Blind Dog

Thanks to multiple generations of dogs living in radioactive waste, they have mutated becoming hostile towards any nearby creatures. Despite becoming blind, their sense of hearing and they have great smelling ability allow them to notice nearby Stalkers rather easily. You can also see some dogs in Albino variants, suggesting that those mutations affected not only their vision but also their pigments. Some dogs’ travel impacts are three or more. They are widespread in the southern regions of the Zone like Cordon, Swamp, Garbage, and Rostok. You can climb onto something to avoid them encountering in the game.

Flesh

Fleshes were once pigs living in the exclusion Zone but because of the enormous amount of radiation, they mutated growing additional eyes and claws. Fleshes are one of the least aggressive mutants often running away from danger and moving in strange irregular patterns. Only if they are desperate and scared enough will mutant pigs attack Stalkers. Like dogs, fleshes just move in groups while appearing to be completely random and disorganized.

They’re often led by an alpha flesh who’s more resistant and powerful than his regular counterparts. Despite looking like irregular piles of meat fleshes are still pigs rendering them safe for consumption. You can also find Fleshes just about everywhere in the exclusion Zone. They are extremely easy to kill by shooting them with a shotgun at close range.

Pseudo Dogs

While resembling another breed of dogs, Pseudo are in fact wolves that got mutation. These wolves lived in the forest before the accident at the Chornobyl nuclear power plant. The radiations have severe effects on the wolves leaving many areas of their skin exposed and rotten and making them look like zombie dogs. The Pseudo dogs are often wandering in the same packs as blind dogs. This makes these groups of mutants even more dangerous.

Pseudo dogs are much faster in resilience than regular domestic dogs. The best strategy when encountering a group of them will be to climb on a vehicle or building, so they can’t reach you. They are quite rare and most often found in the northern regions of the Zone. Despite being more aggressive than regular dogs, Stalkers in the zone still domesticate them.

Bloodsucker

Despite looking like mutated humans, no one really knows where they came from. Some people wonder if they are just another example of the various experiments that scientists have done there. However, this doesn’t explain why the majority of Bloodsuckers look like zombies and they have flesh and body that is decaying. Bloodsuckers are masters of disguise, always trying to catch their enemies by surprise, constantly lurking in the dark corners of the Zone, and waiting for a moment to suck their victims dry.

They perform this attack by biting their targets with special tentacles that contain a paralyzing poison, leaving almost no chance for survival. It’s important to not let Bloodsuckers sneak up behind you. However, this is a difficult task due to the Bloodsucker’s cloaking ability. This skin contains a special chemical that allows these mutants to blend with their surroundings becoming completely invisible.

The only way to identify a Bloodsucker when they are cloaking is by looking at the grass or paying close attention to his footsteps. Due to their high speed, you will notice Bloodsuckers when it’s already too late. They use a hit-and-run tactic, scratching Stalkers with the claws and then recloaking to escape and attack from a different angle. The best way to kill them is to use powerful guns like shotguns or rifles to dispose of a Bloodsucker when they’re charging at you. You can find Bloodsuckers in underground laboratories and other basements alongside the Swamps because of their stealthy nature.

Zombies

Zombies shouldn’t even be considered humans at this point. They have lost all identity and now act as mere animals. While zombified could somewhat communicate with zombies, zombies on the other hand just groan and moan all the time. Zombies eat and drink just about anything that looks like food to them. They are rather easy enemies to fight as unlike their superior versions they can’t use any firearms just hands. Zombies have the special ability to get up after an otherwise lethal hit. This is most likely due to their low sensitivity to pain and slow metabolism.

Rodent

While looking like Rats and Hamsters, rodents are artificially created. Evidence of experiments performed on these creatures can be found in lab x18. They usually hide underground in various basements of the Zone. Despite being small creatures, they often operate in groups. Rodents are quite resistant due to various mutations. They can easily dodge attacks due to their small size and scratch stalkers with their claws. The easiest way to deal with Rodents is to try and stab them or use weapons that can quickly clear a large group of enemies like SMGs or Shotguns.

Boar

Another mutant who follows the same attack strategy is the wild Boar. Many Stalkers call them Flashes on steroids due to their similar behavior. Unlike other animals, Boars didn’t change all that much from radiation, having only a few bald spots or areas overgrown with fur. Boars are great bullet sponges being reinforced and empowered by various anomalies and radiation. It can take an entire mag to take one down.

This becomes a real problem as Boars travel in groups and try to surround their target from all sides. Boars charge toward wars their prey trying to knock them down or simply tear them apart. The best move in this situation is to try and jump away from Boar. Because of their sheer strength, Boars can easily break Stalker’s legs and then just finish them off with their sharp hooves. It’s better to attack Boars from far away and use powerful hunting rifles. You can find these mutants just anywhere in the Zone.

Psy Dog

A more dangerous and stronger variant of Pseudo Dogs is the Psy Dog. Not only are they bigger and have more protection when compared to normal Pseudo dogs they affect the minds of their enemies. Psy Dog can make an entire army of mutants appear out of nowhere by creating various auditory and visual hallucinations. They can kill their target by hiding themselves inside the hordes of dogs. Psy Dogs are even rarer than Pseudo Dogs but they can appear in the same area.

Cat

Another example of mutated wildlife is Cats. Whether they are regular house cats or stray cats they are mutated, gaining a pair of big glands on their cheeks. In terms of their behavior, cats are quite similar to Blind dogs, attacking Stalkers using their sharp claws and teeth often found in groups of two. Cats just like Dogs can be located anywhere on the map.

Crows

Crows appear to be just regular crows but these birds have somehow developed an ability to identify anomalies which allows them to avoid getting in anomalous fields. The second unique property of Crows is their ability to survive emissions. Instead of dying, they enter a paralyzed state similar to the effect of antibiotics and then keep on flying after the emission ends.

Chimera

Another mutant against which is highly advised to use boomsticks is the Chimera. These beasts are the result of numerous genetic experiments performed on certain animals. They appear to look and behave like lions in the game. Some Stalkers even think that Chimera are part of humans due to their faces having a resemblance to human ones.

Chimera have the majority of their internal organs duplicated. Their peculiar feature paired with the Chimera’s long and resistant skin allows these mutants to eat loads of bullets without flinching. Not only do Chimera have great protection but they are extremely aggressive. Chimera can easily jump on their target due to their extremely high mobility.

There’s no use in climbing up high or trying to outrun them as chimeras are incredibly fast. The best way to beat them is to dodge after each jump. Just make sure that you’re not too close to the mutant as it can scratch you with sharp claws.

Snorks

Snorks are adventurers who become feral, losing all individuality and ways of communication. Snorks transformed in battle of a mutant or an anomaly which is suggested by various scars on their bodies. The most noticeable one is on their back being the cause of their unique animalistic movement. Their broken spine doesn’t allow them to walk straight like regular zombified stalkers.

Snorks have great protection due to their equipment that’s still clinging to their bodies. The cracked and broken gas masks greatly hinder Snork’s vision. Another physiological improvement Snork received from their long-term exposure to anomaly fields is their extremely fast reflexes and powerful muscles. Snorks are capable of performing huge leaps towards their targets. In addition, a simple kick or punch is capable of breaking bones. It is very important to be prepared for a fight with a Snork. The best strategy is to dodge the jump attack and then do as much damage to the Snork as possible.

Poltergeist

Poltergeists appear like a flying ball of electricity or fire, paying close resemblance to mobile anomalies in certain areas of Zone. Poltergeists can be damaged by shooting at the ball of light, upon killing them, a Husk similar to a human without any legs will appear. It’s still unknown whether their electric appearance is an illusion or a real transformation. They have telekinetic abilities using various objects like barrels and crates as weapons by throwing them at their enemies. This telekinetic ability isn’t unique to the Poltergeist as it’s used with much greater efficiency by Burers.

Burer

Despite looking like bandits or hobos, these mutated dwarfs are very dangerous. In addition to the flinging objects like Poltergeist, Burers have various other dangerous abilities. The first and most annoying one is the stamina zap that drains the target’s stamina. Not only does this immobilize the prey but it allows the Burers to take their victim’s guns leaving them defenseless. After this, Burers can do another extremely powerful attack that appears to be a telekinetic shot dealing tremendous damage and most likely killing an enemy. They can block incoming bullets using a kinetic shield. The best way to deal with the Burer is to stay away and behind cover or just use an underbarrel grenade.

Controller

Controllers are the result of numerous genetic experiments performed on criminals. Controllers are intelligent, being capable of controlling the minds of inferior creatures. Due to this unique ability, the most experienced stalkers fear the Controllers. The most popular and deadliest attack they like to utilize is to use their psychic bolts which disorientates the target and deals heavy psychic damage. The best way to avoid this attack is by hiding behind something and shooting their head from the cover. They can also deal side damage if you’re nearby.

Pseudo-Giant

The final and most dangerous mutant is the Pseudo-Giants. As a result of unknown genetic experiments on humans and mutants, Pseudo-Giants are extremely strong. Despite their gigantic size these mutants are rather fast and have a jumping albino variant. The main attack that they utilize is a ground pound that creates a shock wave breaking legs and dealing heavy damage. The hardest part of hunting a Pseudo-Giant is to kill it because these mutants are extreme bullet sponges requiring several mags to be killed. Only the most skilled can survive a 1v1 with a Pseudo-Giant. Use powerful guns like grenades and launchers to defeat them.
