Varan asks you to kill leaders of rival gangs, Shah and Roosevelt, in Stalker 2’s ‘King of the Hill’ quest.
The world of Stalker 2 is always on the edge of conflict, and this is best reflected by the game’s gangs and factions. The ‘King of the Hill’ quest in the game throws you right in the deep end, giving you a look at what life is like for the gangs in this desolate wasteland. In this quest, you are searching for the Slag Heap’s leader Nestor, and with no leads to follow, you knock on the door of a rival gang’s leader.
The leader Varan says he will help you but in return, you must kill either Shah or Roosevelt. You can either kill one of them or both of them, to Varan’s joy. They’re the leaders of rival gangs and have routinely impeded Varan’s ambitions of expanding his control in the region.
In this guide, we shall help you make the decision and figure out if you should kill Shah or Roosevelt in Stalker 2’s ‘King of the Hill’ quest.

Who Should You Kill?
The choice can be a little difficult to make as the game does not reveal much about the personalities of Shah and Roosevelt. We do not know either of the two, and it makes the decision blank from a moral standpoint. What we do know, however, is where they reside and the level of difficulty associated with killing each.
The Shah resides west of the Slag Heap inside a building heavily guarded by his men, members of the Brood. You could sneak or fight your way into this building, but we would not recommend so. Instead, you can link up with Huron and complete his ‘No Honor Among Thieves’ quest, after which he shows you an alternate route leading inside the building.
Roosevelt, too, resides near the Slag Heap. To gain access to his lair, you will have to talk to Borodulin and indulge him in some amusement. He will then grant you access to Roosevelt’s hideout. Roosevelt’s hideout is relatively easier to get into compared to that of Shah’s.
Kill Varan Instead
While you could kill Shah or Roosevelt (or both), you also have the option to kill Varan. We recommend doing so, as Varan is a snake in the grass and will turn on you after you complete his request. Killing him earlier gives you a headstart, and also lets you progress ahead with the story faster.
