Explore a full breakdown of all of the anomalies you can face on your journey through the Zone in STALKER 2.
STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl takes immersion to a whole new level as players take on a perilous world filled with environmental hazards known as anomalies. These anomalies can range from corrosive acid pools to deadly electric fields and add an extra layer of challenge to the experience. Successfully navigating the Zone requires a keen understanding of these anomalies and how you can avoid them.
In this article, we will break down all the different types of anomalies that you might encounter in STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl.
All Anomalies in STALKER 2 and How You Can Avoid Them
1. Electric Orb
This is the first anomaly you’ll encounter in the sewers area at the start of the game. Initially, this orb follows a set path and can be easily avoided. However, after the prologue, it starts following you as soon as you enter its line of sight from any direction. The only way to avoid it is by entering special rooms it can’t enter or staying out of its line of sight.
2. Firepits and Lava Projectiles
You’ll frequently come across small random fires on the ground that turn into proper fires when you get close, gradually draining your health. As you progress, you’ll also find small lava pits that throw lava at anything nearby. To dodge firepits, throw a bolt at them and run through while jumping over them as soon as they stop. For lava pits, avoid their range, as there is no other way to bypass them.
3. Electric Ground
This common anomaly first appears after you place your first scanner. You can easily see the electricity on the ground when it’s nearby. To counter them, simply throw a bolt to trigger the electricity and then run through.
4. Storm Vortex
These anomalies are difficult to spot, especially when sprinting. They can be identified by a cluster of leaves moving in a circular pattern with an occasional shine in the middle. If you get too close, the vortex will suck you in for a few seconds before dealing damage. You can avoid it by throwing a bolt.
5. Spark Explosion
You’ll encounter this anomaly in the Garbage area. It creates a spark at the location where your character would be in a couple of seconds if they kept walking on the same trajectory. If you’re within its area of effect, you’ll get flashbanged, concussed, and take damage. The best way to avoid it is to bait its placement on one side and then run in the opposite direction.
6. Glass Shards
Found in the Garbage area, this anomaly doesn’t have a siren to alert you. If you walk or run through these shards, they cause damage and induce a bleeding status. While they are hard to notice, you can crouch past them if you spot them in advance.
7. Giant Bubbles
In the Swamp area, you’ll find giant bubbles suspended in midair. If you get too close, these bubbles will start moving toward you. If they get close or you throw a bolt at them, they burst into multiple small bubbles, causing poison damage if you go inside them.
8. Acid and Acid Fumes
One of the most common anomalies, acid, is easily spotted due to its bright green color in both pools and fumes. While there’s no way to remove them, you can simply walk around them without taking any damage.
9. Gravity Orb
While exploring The Zone, you’ll notice large distortions in the air indicating gravity orb anomalies. These orbs suck you in and deal heavy damage if you get too close. You can avoid them by throwing a bolt through the orb first and then walking past before it respawns.
10. Upward Thrust
This non-lethal anomaly is identified by a bunch of flying debris in the air. If you get close, it will thrust you up in the air. This can be useful for reaching special places in some areas.
