Bases are like central hubs which are both secure and safe. Almost every region within the Zone has a base where you can relax and stock up on items and gear before heading out and continuing exploration. Each base is run by a certain group (Faction) allowing you to interact with them and complete missions for them to earn extra money and sometimes unique rewards including weapons, armor, etc. Moreover, every base has various NPCs to help you stock up on items, provide better gear, or even take you to other discovered bases quickly. These characters include Traders, Medics, Technicians, and Guides.
